when my favorite artist (global superstar the weeknd) cashes in on a potential 7th #1 hit (literally just a remix)
weeknd better than taylor
oh agree, taylor's awful. but my point stands, that s***ty ass label is pushing remixes.
yes, i like that section tbh. but let's be real, that's a bunch of ogs who knows what they want.
tactics like this made me worried that his artistic integrity is compromised. first they pushed ariana, then max martin, then they almost cut out the hills, then 18 songs on starboy, then 2 doja cat collabs, and 2 ariana remixes, what is next?
How is his artistic integrity compromised when he just dropped two amazing albums back to back?
The label isn’t interfering with his album making process, they’re just pushing the singles as hard as they can (which is what a good label does).
BBTM & Starboy were definitely influenced by the label but they were necessary for his career at the time, Kiss Land was not successful whatsoever. And even then, those albums aren’t terrible

no. you don't understand. monte lipman literally threatens him every night to not drop max martin and keep doing ariana grande remixes. if Abel doesn't abide, ITS OVER

lil wayne was probably pushed by the label since that man is in republic. his worst album collab since ed sheeran.
even if the label is not interfering in the album making, they are to blame for the overexposition.

nah monte is cool, is that wendy goldstein witch. do your research.

That feature is fine, it’s definitely not as bad/forced as Dark Times is.
But a label’s job is to push their artists as hard as they can, that’s all they’re doing with Abel. They’re not controlling the type of albums he makes, they’re just marketing the singles as hard as they can. I don’t see the problem with that.
Especially because it’s not excessive like a certain someone
I think people just need to understand and accept that Abel is a full-fledged popstar at this point so he’s gonna be doing popstar things
You can’t go on stadium tours without playing the game on some level

hmmm is not as excessive as taylor, but still excessive, like 5-6 remixes for dawn fm, like 7 for after hours, post malone collab, idk.

So you’re angry not at the fact we’re getting a remix for this song but who it’s with ?
Ari has been radio silent for like 2 years now while SZA been topping the charts for like 2 months
Tell me how this is more chart chasing than a remix w SZA

well, let me give you an example of popstars not doing that, billie eilish, harry styles... and i'm not saying they are better than abel but no everybody is doing that, not even bruno mars.

All of the remixes for Dawn besides Best Friends were by artists that either worked on Dawn or that Abel was touring with. I don’t really see what’s forced about that

And Billie Eilish and Harry Styles aren’t doing stadium tours.
Billie doesn’t have half as many megahits as Abel does and Harry just had his first true smash hit with As It Was. I’m positive once they become bigger and bigger they’ll start using some of these same tactics

nah i'm mad at the remix. i don't like ariana, but what is shameless here is that mone grab strategy. bro was charting with the song, but he needed more, that so shameless.
Exactly, you can make an argument that all of the people Abel is working with or letting remix his songs are artists he genuinely wants to collaborate with and not just some forced label mandate.

If you had a 7 year old song all of a sudden peaking at #6 on the charts, you wouldn’t try to give it a little extra boost to get it to #1?
I don’t see what the issue is

beyonce not doing that, kendrick not doing that, jay z not doing that, red hot chili peppers (stadium level) not doing that, rihanna not doing that. c'mon, stadium level is not excuse for money grabbing, i'd understand those tactics from a struggling artist, not abel.
