he was going to be so impressive vocally on this tour, really disappointing...

It can’t be helped unfortunately. Good thing he’s the GOAT and still finds ways to perform for the fans

I see the Blinding Lights performance, and I think now's the time for him to change his stage name. Something more superstar/popstar-ish, and continue with this kind of sunny, feel good pop songs

The Weeknd is an established pretty much household name at this point. You act like it’s 2015 and nobody recognizes him off name alone.

That would be the dumbest thing he can do at this point.

Nah I’m completely aware of it lol I was even in the very thread you linked. I wasn’t trying to be a d***, I was talking purely about it would be a dumb move in Abel to officially change his name at this point not taking shots at hani.

Unless it’s like a ziggy stardust or prince “symbol” situation I don’t see the point unless it comes with a complete aesthetic change but my worry is it would just end up confusing his newer fans.

Check my edit. I was in that thread, like I said I’ve done my research I’ve been around for a long time my friend don’t know why you keep trying to make it seem like a just said something wild.

    Used to go by TheSecondDream

I mean at the end of the day it’s his decision. My whole point was he’s seen so much success and his reach has gone global with that stage name, a sudden change may effect search results and newer fans may be confused and think it’s someone entirely different.

I’m not against it I just think at this point it wouldn’t make sense UNLESS he was going for a complete change and just wants to push the envelope.

But if he changes the name but does the same thing I just don’t see the point.

    Just my opinion though.

Yup, it's true that The Weeknd has gotten the attention of the world. But his artistic choices/work ethic/direction, he's so far gone, away from the roots, from the kind of music he and zodiac aimed to create, and the fitting name they picked up to suit that grimy sound he used to aim.

Maybe keep both in use. And at times drop bubblegum, sunny pop tracks/LPs under say "Abel". (I enjoy good pop music. keyword is "good")
Other times, when he gets his "allowance" from republic, after he's made them truckload of money with the last three albums, the fourth to be an album he's completely free to get dark and gloomy and do a fan service. Like Morty with his adventure card, picking one in every ten adventures.
He can do it like Eminem did with the angry blonde, the "Slim Shady" persona, whom he brings out once in every couple of years.

I feel you, I honestly don’t care what sound he goes for but I just know he’s established as The Weeknd so it would be a risky change. If he can pull it off then more power to him.

Then again he might be the only artist that could pull something off like that almost 10 years into his career but it would take sone adjusting by fans cause I know you know like we all know when he threw on that red suit, “broke” his nose & picked out his hair a lot of people weren’t on board with it but the music was undeniable if you’re truly a fan of The Weeknd or just good music in general.

Yeah my whole point was from a marketing and name recognition standpoint not anything to do with him as an artist because I feel artist should be able to do as they please but when there are labels involved and marketing comes into play it would be much easier to sell somebody a “The Weeknd” album/merch or tour than any other name.

If he decides to go by Abel that could possibly be a smoother transition because most of his fans know his real name but for the people that mainly know him for his hits they’d probably think he stopped making music in 2020 if all of his albums after went under another name for the next few years cause from my experience with people that aren’t hardcore music fans, they don’t dive too deep into an artist outside of whatever hot song they have at the moment.

Can’t wait for the acting era to go deeper. He’s been hinting at making his own movie for a while and he pretty much had the Safdie bro’s in his pocket so hopefully that’s what he’s working on now, conceptually so instead of a new album after the pandemic is over we may be treated to a movie with original music instead.

That way he can still tour After Hours and have something new out at the same time without having too much new music to perform, if that makes sense

    Thomas is sus

As soon as zodiac is mentioned he gets agitated, cause zodiac exposed him, and Abel couldn't put together the words to respond the zodiac interview

    He's the impostor/lurking Abel

He even has the eye emoji next to his name, further proving the above, that he's Abel and he's lurking

    Hani has voted. 707 remaining.

WhT if he just doesn't want to do the trilogy sound anymore?
Its clear that the making of the tapes he was in the lowest point in his life.
I dont understand this obsession in trying to box him in the old sound
"Make the label money doing pop then do us fan service and make depressing music"

This isnt how the real world works.

Let the man and his team cook and stop with this nonsense.

Its clear from the reception of AH that 90% of the people loved it.

Let the music naturally evolve in his 30s,there is no need of these weird fan service theories
