abel is not that great as performer tbh and there are much better performers today, in pop field specifically. stans can run with that great performer narrative how much they want, but when it comes to singing live abel often can be very limited and has no clue how to operrate in low register (which is kinda strange). just look how big the difference between his live performances and vocalists like roland orzabal and morten harket, who he tried to replicate in those new wavey songs. the contrast should be sobering even for the stans
but in general that's a big progress for him. especially if we took his performances before 2016 i guess

He honestly hits all the points Kanye has but Ye’s grip on the culture and youth in general keeps him ahead imo. I’m sure the Yeezy brand at this point def plays into it but hey the brand name is valuable for a reason.
What were u referring to though? Weeknd is still up there with mainstream artists still taking their craft and execution seriously. He has that over post 2016 Ye for sure

Blinding Lights and Save Your Tears give it the edge, but those are two ridiculously huge songs, you can’t expect any artist to make songs as big as those on every single project.
Excluding those two mega-hits… Sacrifice, Out of Time, Is There Someone Else?, Moth to a Flame, and Take My Breath are outstreaming every single song on After Hours
