Covers don't automatically mean a guaranteed hit.

I mean yeah it doesn't guarantee it, but the melody and song itself clearly already resonated with people so its not like its a random song blowing up.

Also tbh One of the Girls should have been released instead of Double Fantasy to maximize the Kpop fanbase before the show would kind of sink the hype that songs released had.

Imo it wasn't a coincidence that Popular and Double Fantasy were the two song had hype and none of the songs that were released once the show got rolling barely charted on top 100 of Spotify. But that's just me, I get he released it in line with how the episodes progressed.
