Why’re you so fixated on the outfit? It’s similar to Ryan Gosling in Drive or Margot Robbie in Suicide Squad: it’s a notable look of the character. Am I missing something?

    EDIT: Lmfao nice edit.

    I didn't mention the outfit. I asked u what character he's playing.

It’s up for speculation. Some think it’s the reincarnation of the character he killed from previous chapters.

We’ll see as the story develops.

    I haven’t made any theory.

Lmao it genuinely said “I would if the character was in the same outfit”.

Like you and the other 2 have never seen a film with an iconic outfit in your life.

No it said "I would if he had NO character and always wore the same outfit"

Because there's nothing to take away from the "character" he's portraying so seeing him always looking the same is uninteresting af

In fact I'd say the only reason you think he's portraying a character is because he's always dressed the same. Unless you can tell me something about the character himself like I asked u.

Dude, Marvel gave him a comic book for his Starboy persona.

He’s playing a persona and that isn’t up for debate. Telling him to switch costumes for absolutely no reason is illogical.

Make your own interpretation on the character. What do YOU think?

Well a lot of people didn't take away much from these new music videos or not enough to interpret the character which is why they find it boring.

And the Starboy creative direction was fantastic, I'm not surprised he got a Marvel comic book. But so far I'm not seeing it possibly being done for this one or that much at all.

The outfit complaints are just there because if you don't feel anything for the dude in the video or see any personality or anything chances are that the repetitive outfit is gonna get boring to look at.

And what character was he playing during the Starboy era? What was the character’s purpose, intentions and goal?

The Starboy music video era wasn't centered around one narrative like these ones are. Iirc all videos are completely different with different characters or at least set designs so I don't think it's one character. Seeing the video for, say, Heartless itself, would be fine but this would be, in comparison, like if the Starboy era only had 4 videos of the story from False Alarm or the Starboy vid. It just isn't interesting enough.

Ah, I’d really recommend watching the Zane X Weeknd interview about the Starboy persona. You missed a lot. It wasn’t meant to be different characters.

And I think whomever interviews The Weeknd for this era will shed a light on the particulars of this character.

That’s cause Starboy was always meant to be like that. Apparently After Life tells a story so it makes sense to connect all the videos altogether. I understand people not liking it too

Yes it does change what you said because I personally do not like the character and rollout - I’ve said many times before - but your criticism of the outfit because you didn’t quite understand the character convention was a little silly.

It doesn't change anything. You just hold onto that outfit mention cause you want to make it seem like I'm ripping on a minor thing even though it was just me saying that, along with the story the visual aesthetic is also kinda monotone to me as well.

If you like the story of these videos so far that's cool and idc but if you're gonna tell me that I'm wrong for finding it boring cause I don't understand the character then at least be able to tell me what the character is or what it's about when I ask you.

There is no answer for that yet it is literally up for interpretation - that’s art.

And no, it’s because you were the third person to mention the outfit in a row lol

The story is fine. The music isn’t very good.

Absolutely not. That’s why I asked for your opinion on the story - and your own interpretation. The other 2 were obviously trolling.

You originally said he wasn’t playing a character... So I thought you were too.

I'm bad at wording s***. I meant I don't see any personality or something that interests me about the character in the videos so far but obviously it's a character. My bad.

That’s the thing: I don’t disagree with your criticism. We’re watching an amateur performance. But it’s had a good mix of archetypes and cliches. Very Tarantinoesque but not as POP - more like Jean-Luc Godard. There’s self-referential alienation tendencies and a plotless plot but it’s an interesting performance. It’s not dull but it’s not focused. Maybe intentional? Maybe there’s more to come? I’m not a film critic

Well said I feel you. ❤️ I'm interested to see if the album will flesh out the story more or will it end up being as open as it is so far.
