Idk why everyone keeps saying this, not much time has passed, and not the first two but After Hours yup (obviously lol)
I think it's that people aren't used to old school, slow burn rollouts like this.

I mean he announced the album in 2018 only for it to come out March 2020! He should have made his first announcement in August/September 2019

Why?
The Weeknd team is so trash. Can't even do a rollout. Everything feels boring and no one is excited.
Re-read your last sentence then answer me
Yeah I stand by it. He should made his first album announcement in August/September saying he was working on a new album. It would be perfect since the singles came out in November and then the album in March (which I still think is a bit of a stretch)

Eh, they were just casual status updates/announcements. It's not like he ever gave any specific release dates and didn't follow through. I understand what you mean though as a fan.
I do think he had intentions of releasing the album sooner, but at some point he went back in the studio and started from scratch. Probably around the time he linked up with OPN and filmed Uncut Gems (so early 2019-ish) - it seems like this new chapter was really altered by those experiences and his exposure to different genres.

I agree the album was definitely altered and I think it was altered twice. Once in March when navs album came out and then again in August! Also he clearly didn’t scratch the whole album as most us believe because he stated in an interview that heartless was the first song recorded after mdm
I wonder if Abel is gonna keep going with the whole “era narrative” during SNL or if it’ll just be a normal performance
