Just got out of the theater.. I have a lot of thoughts but I will say as of right now that I did enjoy this movie.

If you’re a fan of Abel and his music, you will more than likely enjoy this.

If you don’t care much about him or his music, I am not sure if this will hit as hard for you.

Yes I did lol. I’m not saying it was an amazing movie but it was clearly a love letter to his hardcore fans.

This guy cannot act.

The first half of this was great, Trey’s signature style with the 360 shots, shallow depth of field, switching aspect ratios and catchlight in the actors eyes was perfect for this.

Vanity and really meta projects are hit or miss and the second half was a bit too self indulgent, which isn’t bad but it echoed in silence and the energy died out.

”There's a scene where The Weeknd gets tied up and forced to listen to his own songs (while a character explains the genius deeper meaning behind them) that was extremely funny because that's exactly how l felt while watching this entire film.”

I really hope he makes more films because he has great taste and put me onto a lot, I’ll always be intrigued and excited but him and reza need to improve on writing.

At the end of the day, she wasn't really trying to hurt him. She was trying to get him to confess and open up, even if it meant taking some extreme measures. That's what made the scene where he sings while he's in agony so powerful to me. It felt like a raw & very real moment.
