yo can someone tell me what this trilogy was actually about? ik it’s for the hardcore fans and i been seeing y’all post easter eggs and references for a minute but what was it really about ?

    I see it this way:
After Hours: A retelling of his typical persona and who we have come to know him as; a toxic, yet wounded and vulnerable lover with a problem with substances and a fixation on death. The opening act, and ordinary world we find him in. Over the course of this album, he gets worse and worse, emotionally and physically, until eventually collapsing in a pool of (self inflicted?) blood and realizing as he bleeds out that he cannot continue like this.
Dawn FM: A purgatorial state where The Weeknd recollects on his lost life, while ruminating on ways he could have and should have done better. Very much a “I can’t be better yet, but I can at least try” album
Hurry Up Tomorrow: Somewhat of a retreading of Dawn’s themes, with The Weeknd realizing how much he screwed up and trying to be a better person, but this time with a more operatic style and sound and heavier fixation on death and the end. The Weeknd actually makes progress and breaks new ground this time around, however, as he actually gets to the point where he accepts and owns up to his failures, instead of just ruminating on them or running away. Because of this, he has become a better person, and can finally pass on to the next phase, on a hopeful note (specifically tied to Heaven on the title track). Where he ends up in the end is left up to interpretation.

  • I really wanna know more about this movie. I hope they do a FULL FLEDGED promo run like they did for The Idol. I get more and more intrigued every time I watch the trailer lol
