This is the first song I ever heard by The Weeknd. I remember it was Summer 2011 either July or August and I was a huge Drake fan. I was either listening to Drake's Trust Issues or searched for it on YouTube but I saw the thumbnail for Abel's version and thought it was dope so I checked it out. Immediately fell in love with the voice and the way he manipulated the track juuuuust so slightly to suit himself. Listened to a few more tracks on YouTube and the rest is history.
Don't remember how early I discovered this song or how, but by the first listen I was so damn glad that I did.
Abel completely bodied this song and added his magic to it, also making it a proud successor to the bar he raised so high with the mixtapes. One of my absolute favourite tracks, and one of the most weeknd-sounding.
Deep cut? This is a deep slash lmao.
Also, who has the og file? Think it was a mp3 320kbps. (The one I got from earmilk has a convincing spectrograph, but no tags at all. No v2.3, or v2.4 tags, nada!)
Interested also how it was shared, and a link or snapshot of archive.is/webarhive. For example, Enemy was a gift for those who couldn't make it to a live show, the mp3 file was shared by Abel in twitter I think, then he deleted it. While the La Mar tweet is still up. (Talking about Enemy ofc)
