i never dove into vaporwave but the way i've seen it is that it was the next step in evolution from the chillwave that earlier artists started and it sounds like that here.i'd say its even as influential on retro-revivalism as chillwave, but it came after and was influenced by the latter, which i've tried to find predecessors for but can't find.
