LA girls all look the same
For real, Abel linking up with OPN was godsent
OPN really bringing Abel's creative ambition to a whole other level...and we already know how high it was. Illangelo is all about the familiarity and chemistry built from Trilogy, but there is nothing like a fresh new spark to really bring things to new, innovative places. Hoping for OPN to be involved with at least half the album, if not more.

All facts
heartless just a banger, not much to say there it does what it needs to
That run in the last chorus tho
This might be his best album ever
If he can top After Hours, he’s going down as a top 5 artist of the 21st century.
I hope Abel has some exciting post-album promotional plans already locked in place. Cause once he's back filming The Idol that's where his attention will be...think he may have underestimated how grueling/time-consuming the filming process was gonna be last fall, hence the album delay.
i def remember shambles when false alarm dropped, at least on ktt. i remember people not liking it, and it was just alright for me
iirc people generally liked i feel it coming but the old heads complaining about “no trilogy vibes” were starting to come to terms with that never coming back so they were b****ing louder too
i feel like in bbtm and starboy threads ktt was definitely not as unified in hype as it was for after hours and now dawn FM. i remember like every single page pretty much was some people being excited and some people being pessimistic about it being too poppy. weeknd album threads now seem a lot more optimistic, tho the switch to ktt2 and the loss of some cynical old heads could be part of that lol
So fire
i like the context that this interview excerpt provides. variety mag
It’s about the darkest time of my entire life, a time when I was getting really, really tossed up and going through a lot of personal stuff. This is around 2013-14: I got arrested in Vegas, it was a real rockstar era, which I wasn’t really proud of, and at the end of the song you hear sirens. That’s me in the back of the cop car, that moment.
I always wanted to make that song but I never did, and this album felt like the perfect time, because of the setting of Las Vegas, and the character needing a kind of escape after a heartbreak or whatever, ‘I’m gonna go to Vegas and drown all my sorrows,’ and by the time you get to the end of the album you realize it’s more of a redemption.
But I wanted to go to Vegas and be this guy again, the “Heartless” guy, the d*** monster, the person who hates God and is losing his f—ing religion and hating what he looks like when he looks in the mirror so he keeps getting high, and hating to be sober because “I feel the most lonely when I’m coming down” — that’s who this song is.
