Its better to listen to the weeknd from a holistic aspect.
View his whole journey in music as one big album.
Each album reflective to a stage he is in, in his career, in his life.
His music bangs off harder from that perspective.
I’ve heard people say that type of thing before, but I honestly never understood how people could have that type of omniscient perspective when listening to any artist’s music.
I’m not actually thinking about HoB tracks or Thursday tracks or whatever when I’m listening to this album. When I listen to any album I’m just in the moment of that album.
It’s after I finish listening that I’ll formulate some thoughts/opinions based on how I felt while listening (basically just flat out whether I liked it or not). And then after that I’ll a***yze it in the broader picture (simplified but: I didn’t really enjoy this one, but I enjoyed his early stuff)
I think critics are going to have negative reviews ngl
all of them have been great so far what are you talking about

His most mature album Sonically, perfectly reflects his growth as an artist

Yeah I cant stop playing gasoline
My fav off first listen still fav halfway through second

Poor sarcasm
I don’t get the need for discussing how the public or critics will feel itt
another great thing is that Abel has always been a little suspect when it comes to the phrasing of some of his lyrics since he hooked up with Max Martin, always a little rough around the edges and forced, unnatural
everything I heard on DawnFM was smooth and buttery as it should be
Before I end up forgetting to mention it again, that transition into Starry Eyes is amazing
