I don’t understand the slander for this one it’s not even polarizing

Exactly. It’s just mid. The production is so expensive sounding paired with his voice it was going to be hard to make a bad album. From an artist of his caliber this falls flat. This is Majid Jordan with a Red Bull. It[s not bad but not great

I don’t think so. Who ever was helping Michael write had a better pen then Abel. Can we be honest about his limited range of melodies?

    Imagine

The melodies are catchier than ever

Didnt think he’d come up with potential hits so quickly after the exhausting amount of catchy songs on AH

Album is hitting with surround sound on Astro A50’s

And RYM users mostly just cosplay professional reviewers

I'm skimming through the reviews rn and they mostly state dry facts like genre names, producer names, like they try to a***yze what they actually listen to from a technical standpoint

They basically talk about the music from an "objective"/music history standpoint which is not really what I'm interested in when I peep user reviews

The Weeknd had a smashing debut in the internet era as one of the precursors of "PBR&B", mostly known as Alternative R&B thanks to his unmissable and irresistible trilogy (2011) that really put him in the spotlight

    Or

this song rides a tantalizing wave of rippling synthesizer flairs from an ominous realm of heartache and desperation to the final destination of confidence and fulfilment

Rather read about how a fan perceives the music on a personal level. I want you to tell me what the music does to YOU.

And the write ups don't have to be super long to make an interesting point either

That second excerpt is just verbal diarrhea

    Complex doesn’t equal correct

    The Darkest Angel

No he wasn't making 50s or 60s music in the 80s he was evolving and made music that was new at the time. This album isn't at all what he would make in 2022 at that age it's too nostalgic

Not saying I don't like this album but MJ would make whatever was current. He was into rap a lot like 50 Cent so he probably would do that combined with singing

Imma be real w u bro

It sounded cool to say. Im not an MJ expert in the least lmao

The response to this reminds me of the last Solange album, super coherent and thematically tight but people s*** on it for being lowkey and not having enough standouts like A Seat at the Table even though it was a great project

The response now is way more positive, hype is just a hell of a thing after a really successful album

Also reminds me of the initial reactions of Blonde. People wanted more Channel Orange type s***

Now people talk about Blonde much more than cO
