Kiss Land was a flop and any fan expecting him to drop more of the same after that was selfish
He was destined to make pop music after covering Dirty Diana. it was gonna happen sooner or later. he tried it with Kiss Land, great album but didn't get him to the level he wanted so did what he wanted to do after that.
I don't think kiss land would be a flop if it dropped today
Bl was so massive that i get why he tried to follow that route,he will be foolish not to but i really hope he switch it up in his next album,im tired of the 80s sound
ultimately, the only reason you guys are putting this bizarre argument forward is because you weren't there at the time
BBTM was like a bullet in the skull for reams of people
Dawn FM ain't doing anything on that magnitude to anyone
you're just wrong
That's because we've already been desensitised with the pop songs from the previous albums. When I say this album is the biggest f*** you to trilogy fans I'm not talking about the trilogy fans that have been desensitised and accepted that he's more pop now and still love it. I'm talking about those people that stopped loving his music since 2015 but still saw some trilogy elements to salvage in songs like the hills, ordinary life, priviledge, escape from la etc.

It defo would lmao, its not radio music.

Commercially it definitely would be. If it flopped in 2013 it would be a nosedive crash into the ground in 2022, from a commercial standpoint
Did a play through of After Hours last night and it was euphoric, literally felt like I was ascending and being dragged into hell at the same time. I think I might take what I said about Dawn topping it back.. I think they’re both for sure on par with each other but it’s honestly very hard to say I like one more than the other with them both fresh on my mind. I’ll definitely have to let Dawn sit with me some more but either way to have dropped two albums of this quality back to back this far in his career is incredible. It gets me so excited to see what he’s got planned for the future
I will say, one thing I LOVE about Dawn is how many Kiss Land aspects it has to it, it almost feels like it’s futuristic but also retro sequel
One thing I LOVE about After Hours is the mixtape Abel aspects he brought to it, also you can hear Trilogy AND Kiss Land sprinkled all throughout that album and it makes it so hard to decide which one I like more.
As of now they’re both 10/10 albums for me and very well may enter classic status as the years pass
AH was amazing first listen and just skyrocketed over time. DFM is currently doing the same.
Dawn is probably the most he’s been inspired on a record since Kiss Land lmao
his most focused album too

Welcome back gang
Agreed 100%. AH is too good, Dawn is amazing too though. I played Alone Again - Scared to live and it really reminded me how good that album was. Gotta give ‘em time before we can compare.
Lemme put it this way. I’m not exclusively a Trilogy Weeknd fan.
I loved After Hours and I really liked Starboy and BBTM.
Its all subjrctive yes. I can see the appeal behind DawnFM but you can’t say BBTM was a f***you to the fans and on the same hand say that dawn wasnt
Abel literally said Dawn is what he wishes KL was.
and after listening to the album, if you don't hear that, there is no saving you lol

same here. i gave AH another spin front to back and honestly there are no misses. Dawn got 2 subpar songs, cant put it above AH
after hours may be the most overrated album of all time
fr, it's crazy how much they overrated it
s*** had scared to live and heartless on it and niggas saying this
good songs but like nah man
theres not 1 miss on dawn fm. Im glad he leaned all the way into the dance aspect and made it is own.
Crazy how gasoline might be the best song ever composed
Trilogy stans I know irl are loving it

100% doubt he’d make a third album in a row dedicated to this sound. I pray
