What success tho? Unfortunately it seems we’re like the only place that likes it
Lowkey feels like the weeknd cares more about the opinions of people like us than the general listening public
Sup abel if u itt rn
There’s so much of his early elements littered all throughout AH and Dawn it actually blows me away the purists don’t like these albums… how can you not like Abel taking Trilogy and Kiss Land and making it.. modern? He is completely expanding upon the sound and bringing it to its full potential, tell me how that’s not a good thing
Going over their heads...
Friends noooo mooooreeeee
S***as friends noo mooooreee
Didn't get the hate for this
S***s fireeee
man im saying. Everything is still there, its just more wavey and less depressing
Idk why ppl want dude to be mazzy star
The crazy thing is though, it’s still equally as depressing. Did my playthrough while reading through the lyrics and it’s like Abel crawled back into his old mindset on these albums, they’re both filled with very bleak, gloomy, sad content. He just found a way to make the actual sound of it resonate with the general public and to me that is amazing. I know people who don’t like Trilogy or Kiss Land but love After Hours. Music is just strange to me but whatever is going on in that realm, personally for me, Abel is giving me the best treatment I’ve ever received from sonics in general. These past 3 projects have reached inside my soul and just buried themselves there. It does hurt sometimes to see people brush these albums off like they aren’t something special

I think a big problem for a lot of the Trilogy heads is that a part of it is down to perception — The Weeknd is seen as one of, if not the, biggest star in the game right now.
Even if he’s quite clearly still lending on elements of his early music the mystique and the gatekeeping elements just aren’t in his music anymore and honestly I think that burns them.
Think of any Trilogy head you know. 95% of them are pretentious gatekeeping wankers
I think it just boils down to people feeling like he’s catering toward white folks and that’s a whole other discussion we can have. As a black man, that’s what I honestly think it is cause it’s the same s*** when MJ made Bad and Prince before SOTT.
I would even say more europe - ish sound. Me as one really appreciates these influences. Because i grew up with that kind of music around
You spin me ‘round so I can brrreeeatthheeeeee
It’s only safe for you and me
I know you won’t let me od

You spittin like pac bro
i fell off the weeknd a lil until MDM. To me thats when his promise on rolling stone came to fruition. and to me these 2 projects are better than most of the trilogy. I rarely make up my mind on an album so quick. Bu when i do, its warranted. I had a physical reaction these 2 albums like how i did when listening to thursday and eos for the first time.
But I can't gеt it out of my head
No, I can't shake this feeling that crawls in my bed
I try to hide it, but I know you know me
I try to fight it, but I'd rather be free
the melody is just...
