why do y'all think abel can't break through sales wise in the us? his albums do good in the long run sales wise (starboy, bbtm) but he can't do the huge drake, beyonce, adele etc popstar numbers first week even though he's probably just as big.

afterlife (or whatever the title will be) will be the true test in terms of sales.

I think hype and build up has a big part in how well an album does. if abel switches up his sound and does a really good rollout for the next album I think he can do 300k from streams alone.

it's still low for the weeknd tbh. drake can do 600k with no physicals, harry can do 190k, uzi did almost 300k.
