I don't think you realize how involved OPN is in this project, everytime Abel has posted studio pics it has been with OPN and everytime there is a Memento Mori OPN is basically posting the songs beforehand or hinting at the themes. Daniel is probably the only guy that can completely understand Abel's language and bounce of ideas. They both come from a place with love for obscure and underground 80's music.
this. you can tell from uncut gems on to his involvement around after hours live (snl, directing the super bowl performance) and on the album and the way the weeknd has shared this that OPN seems integral to the dawn moreso than max is
Girl vocals
who. i think twigs could be interesting. do you want like a big pop duet or just vocals

Idk what i want but he always expresses how much he loves to work with girls, and every time he collabs with one their voices mesh SO well.
So anyone that he thinks that fits his sonical landscape, whoever that is.

I always use False Alarm as an example, that song is a clear testament to Abel's love for New-Wave/Post-Punk. It's pulling inspiration from his teenage years as a punk kid. If I was at his level of stardom I would also keep someone like OPN VERY close on the production team cause he would be able to understand all the references. Example: "I love the strings in A Clockwork Orange"... Let's create a modern version of that sound!
Or: "Would be cool to have a line in the song that references an obscure horror movie from the 70's but how do we make it interesting for the general public ?"

yeah and on top of all of this, i think that working on gems and being around OPN allowed the weeknd to make his work more cinematic audio wise and story wise than it already was. like until i bleed out is unbelievable
does anyone remember if the merch site went up like a minute or two early for HOB 10 year. i feel like it did

OMG I NEVER PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER
Still haven't seen this mentioned anywhere
ehh he had like 4 prod credits on (non deluxe) AH
Yeah he was cut from a bunch of songs I believe
Yeah I don’t think Max produces some more than 50% of the album, he mostly produces upbeat hits for him and his albums are usually balanced
Yep he didn’t make the cut it seems

despite his bs, still a 🐐 for the mixtapes and especially After Hours' title track

Max Martin is doing far less than what some people think. He has only been credited on 13 of The Weeknd's album songs.
Can't Feel My Face
Shameless
In the Night
Rockin'
Love to Lay
A Lonely Night
Ordinary Life
Hardest to Love
Scared to Live
Blinding Lights
In Your Eyes
Save Your Tears
Take My Breath

lots of variety in those songs so he could do an album tbh
ohhhhhhhh
whos matt tho/?
probably Matt Cohn. he does OPN's engineering and mixing. was on AH too (repeat after me, UIBO). so he might be heavily involved on the dawn if OPN is too.
