MTAF vs Creepin
Which one you choosing?
MTAF easily. One of his underrated songs. Wish it was om Dawn Fm
I mean yeah the 2011 era music fit him the best for his personality but he still kills it because the music is too good.
Exactly bro
Like that Weeknd is perfect not gonna cap
Current Weeknd also a lil too polished imo but yeah if he wanna go the Popstar/MJ route he def needed to package it for a wider audience, great job on him again tbh
Listened it about a dozen times yesterday and today. Well... This felt like those nice shoes you liked a lot at the shop, but that are a size too small.
For one, the original is too good, and Abel's vocals are too delicate, thin, weak in comparison, most obvious on the chorus which unfortunately is probably the most iconic part of the song -- he sounds tolerable in the verses, he added his own sauce to the formula, and yeah, the verse part before the chorus sounds nice.
But yeah, the chorus is the highest point of the song, and Abel's rendition doesn't do it for me. Especially the 2:48 part. Wtf was that sheesh, why did you have to add little braggadocious part/speed up the tempo lol
Abel, there's beauty in "less is more". Often you try too hard.
Don't try too hard.
Close, but no cigar. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be playing this regularly. But definitely try again! Do it right next time!
Kudos for the tribute/taking on iconic RnB tracks though!
No more half measures, Abel! Go the whole mile, do a full album, go crazy with the vocals and emotional matter, enough to give cats like Frank a run for their money! Make an album you think Prince will smile if he heard it! (as he did with HOB) Bring the braids too!

Yeah I might have been a little too harsh with the song, or as a wise man would say, I f***ed up on my previous judgement.
In comparison the original is still better, it has a bit more emotion and overall qualities, but the distance between the two isn't as abysmal as I previously thought. This rendition is actually quite good.
If every cover/tribute was at least this good, every musician would be proud (be it the original singer/writer, or the one who's tackling the noble task of doing the cover)
Kudos to Abel, 21, Metro and everybody involved.
More proper RnB, Abel! As you can see it's getting whole lotta love from true believers and newcomers alike! Excelsior!
Best weeknd song since escape from LA
Best weeknd song since escape from LA
Hmm, "weeknd song" is a stretch, cause pretty much this is a cover, but yeah, it's good
Escape From LA
You named after top ramen shut your dumb broke ass up

Is DD not a Weeknd song to you?
Is DD not a Weeknd song to you?
good question lol
Jokes aside, Creepin' / D.D. / Down Low, the fact that the lyrics are identical make me cast the 50% plus 1 vote that I don't consider them a "Weeknd song", but more of a cover/tribute, "Weeknd's rendition".
PS. nothing wrong with covers, they're just as artistic as original, own composed songs
Then we have Trust Issues, Drunk in Love, where he personalized the track, the lyrics, vibe. That's what I am more predisposed to call a "weeknd song"
