At the end of the day it’s just a remix original song still exists
Ig but the whole album is literally perfect as is

Yes of course but this remix isn’t changing anything from the album lol

I mean it takes the perception of a detailed art project that happened to also be commercially successful and turns it into a generic pop, stream hungry project

Its really not that serious. Doja was making contemporary R&B 2014-2016
2 coke fiends doing the most to bring back the 80s
you have to respect it at least

Does After Hours being amazing make Abel’s blatant commercial success whoring better or worse?
EDIT: im not talking about his sound im talking about the promotional stuff

That's just your perception. The Weeknd is a huge pop artist, why are you so unsettled by that.

moving on from a sound to make the music you want to make does not = commercial success whoring
he blew up from singing over shoegaze samples did you really think he didn't wanna make the music he's making now
In only if there's a new verse by Abel
Doubt it, all his remixes are lazy. It'll be a new Doja verse replacing one of the original verses

Abel is insecure about his popularity. He wants to be considered a top 5 superstar in not just rnb/rap world but overall. Truth is, he's not quite there.
He's definitely top 10, but he's selling 200-300k without bundles. That's amazing but not mind blowing number.
So he will do what he needs to do to get his numbers boosted (bundles for singles in order to go number one, bundles for album, bringing a hot new artist on the single that isn't growing as fast as he'd like).
Def wasn't expecting this remix, but I guess republic want to push this song more instead with going with another single
