From what I've read it is a huge success. It beat Mandalorian last week as the most demanded streaming property or some s*** and there are more people playing Witcher 3 now than since release.

S1/S2 of GoT had tight budgets but they made it work. whoever is running this show doesn't know what they are doing

I think it’s very hard to nail the dialogue as the original novels are very philosophically laced with Geralt’s internal musing. Trying to fit that tone through the medium of Television kind of lends itself to morally grey we live in a society tier levels. Which the trailer seems to suggest.
It’ll get eaten up for a bit, but I don’t think it’ll last.
