Slavic immigrants came around the 60's when Tito first let people work over there. My Great grandfather was there during the first wave of busses going over for work. But he always came back because Yugoslavia was a rich country in the 60's and 70's. My grandmother and Grandfather went there in 1972 and stayed there and my parents came over prior to the war in 1989. Wanted to stay a year or two, make money and then go back but the war f***ed that up and they decided to stay.

Nowadays balkan immigration is still going on but it's not much. Ever since Ghaddafi went down, the middle east opened up and that is when we got the so called immigration crisis in Europe where people are now coming in big numbers over to the wealthier countries like Germany, Austria, France and such.

So the biggest number of new immigrants is definitely from those areas, not the balkans, poland or turkey anymore.

Chechnia is an autonomous region within russia. Primarily muslim. They have been in a war with Russia for years until it died down in early 2000 and their current "leader" is basically on good terms with Russia. Many people fled the part of russia because of the war and rising islamic terror from within and other reasons.
