one of the best examples of a fantastic script thats still studied in film classes til this day but I doubt the movie would've been as perfectly realized as it is without Polasnki's direction imo

yeah, polanski talked him out of it lol, towne initially hated polanski's ending and felt it was too depressing but polanski wanted the movie to stand out and refused to give it a happy ending, genius move on his part tbh

I can’t see it ending any other way one of the best and done so well

“A happy ending” I mean killing your dad because he raped you is barely a happy ending. I actually think that would’ve be interesting too.
