I remember back in elementary school when a girl and boy were arguing the teacher would say they must have actually liked each other and threatened to make them kiss

I think work being used as punishment for children genuinely f***s up there perspective on what work is, and can have lasting effects on their overall happiness as they age.

Like doing the dishes as a punishment reinforces it as a negative thing.

Where as an an adult work should be viewed as a rewarding experience.

It is a negative thing. Nobody likes doing dishes.

No. But I do like a clean sink.

Nobody likes to "work", but rather the results of the work

I understand your point but I disagree.

Kids generally don’t like doing house chores. It teaches them cleanliness.

I don’t think they’re used that often as punishment. The punishment would likely be “if you don’t clean your room x will happen”, no TV for example.

It teaches consequences but also how to be more organised.

Yeah I was gonna say that lmao

I still hate doing them it feels like a waste of time but the only “reward” is that I need to use the dishes because I live alone and don’t have many.

Kids will wash dishes they need to use but since they live with family they’d just be like whatever

I just gave an example man. I do not know how viable my example is.

I'm just saying I think there can be a negative correlation with work if it is used as a punishment.

Okay give me a better example of work being used as punishment.

People like work if what they’re doing is something they’re interested in.
