Rappers actually putting effort in to albums, and being competitive and wanting to be better than their peers
This is what I been trying to say weeks ago
Rappers actually putting effort in to albums, and being competitive and wanting to be better than their peers
We need a 2023 version of control
Honestly, just actual club hits like Back That Ass Up, How Do You Want It, Gin & Juice, NIP, Gold Digger, Hot N Herre, Always On Time, Get Low, etc.
It seems rappers in recent times strayed away from that and that's lowkey why Reggaeton and Afrobeat has risen in popularity.
To be fair, most of the club hits are trap hits
Producers having their own style and sound of beats. Now everyone is too similar.
1 Train is the last good one that I can think of
Yep, same one I had in mind. And Lord knows that's a minute ago..
Posse cuts
This!
We used to get switch great posse cuts from the biggest rappers out
Swagga like us
Forever
So appalled
1 train
Wtf happened
Rappers actually having a personality instead of being chronically online losers addicted to social media
What we really need to talk about is how most of the things brought up in this thread were made possible by heavy label micromanagement and gatekeeping
ding ding ding
We need real competition in the game again I’m not talking beefs and diss records I’m talking if one rapper/group drop a fire album another rapper/group go 10 times harder to make something better…the south started this whole unity s*** but it’s been pretty stale for a few years now the same way that ny competition s*** started getting stale after a while. time to bring that competitive nature back
You see how everybody flocked to the donda/clb s*** we need that entertainment
The album experience instead of playlists of random tracks that don’t even fit together coherently, and if they do fit together it’s bc all the songs sound the same
This year has been a lot better for hiphop than the last few years and there’s def still rappers dropping fire projects but yeah
When beefs were actually beefs and not just subbing and bitter tweeting
This the one I hate it here I be wanting to hear some good tracks smh
Miss getting new music from Twitter and SoundCloud and not having to go into music forums like kanyetothe.com
Rappers had more character to them
You could hardly do a new Def Jam game because rappers brands aren’t as solidified I feel like
They have solid brands theyre just all the same replica. And these guys dont look like they'll fight like on those DJFFNY games. (Love this suggestion tho)
