bro first of all look at how monday-friday are depicted . this sht is so programmed into your head as a soft brained, porous headed kids like that brutalistic industrial 9-5 s*** is so f***ing terrifying looking wtf
"5 hours a summer a week" .... HUH thats like 2.9% of your life
also just the budget they used to blow on stuff like this is crazy . so much time, planning, attention to detail it's wild how this is just some intro promo s*** for an abc show where they play cartoons after it . like what in the world would possibly warrant that these days outside of maybe like a superbowl ad ....
idk i just felt like theres a lot to unpack with this also the graphics are very hard it's incredibly well constructed overall just the general message is so f***ing hellish & brutal kinda unconsciously lol
the way the entire color palette is that grey & brown it looks like a dystopian industrial nightmare & the juxtaposition with the green grassy environment ... like man this kind of thing gave me so much deep anxiety & existential dread as a kid
maybe a mod should move this to L&a i guess this isn't really about the disney promo itself & moreso the liminal messaging & programming of it

yeah looking at the comments i think most people agree & obvi it's the intention of the thing
butttt you get what im saying though? it's so unnescarily brutal & there was so much of this sort of messaging as a kid its so bizarre & dark thinking back on it.
like im an adult with agency now & everything is totally fine but you're set up to expect this horrifying turbo-industralist life where you get 5 hours of sunshine a week thats soooo insane like not even on some conspiracy sht but why do that its just so traumatising for no reason

what makes u think it's brutal?
I think the song isnt saying "u only get 5 hrs of free time a week" its just saying "for the 5 hrs that this show is on, it feels like summer vacation"

I need to do that. Show was so special to me.
You think Disney stopped programming people
i dunno dont really consume any of their content these days is it this blatant now?
its more of a broader message i feel i received from a lot of things as a kid tbh, i think i still deal with a lot of deeply engrained anxiety about being an adult cus of stuff like this
@op
!https://youtu.be/PWUlhZWkDwcyeah thats tough i loved when they incorporated the charecters like that
all these promos were hard but the thread is more about the liminal brutalistic industrialism messaging i feel like that got kinda lost itt

True, Disney has so many dark subliminal messages that it makes you just go
S*** would've went over so many kids heads
Word, OP. Watching that brings back so much nostalgia from childhood but there ain’t no more 5 hours of summer on Saturday morning as an adult For me, right now, watching that again definitely makes me feel almost like some type of loss
This gave me a bad trip once

Disney owns ABC, ESPN, Lucasfilms, The MCU, etc
He's saying its not in a Saturday morning ad per se, but they are still programming everybody in some way
