I remember in 2017 in rehab we were all in a van going to an AA meeting in the nearest town and the guy driving let us put on rap/r&b radio station from the nearest city
it was dusk and the sun was setting so the sky was streaked with the most beautiful russet orange
and "Wild Thoughts" came on, and these two twentysomething girls started singing and swaying to it, and this middle aged man looked at them bemusedly and said something like "ah, to be young," and i watched all three of them and was glad that we were all there. maybe they all relapsed and died since, but at that moment we were all there.
those are the kind of reasons why music sticks to people's ribs and their memories
but ofc these stupid accounts are literally just memberberries posting, i despise them
Do a whole thread about ur experiences
Also u said middle aged man what age range specifically did the man look?
You just had to be there man. We were wearing full suits, we were classic men.
2015 gets way too gassed up for no reason. It was a pretty good year but it wasn't some golden "era" people be tryna say it was
TPAB
GOOD AM
Dark Sky Paradise
ALLA
IYRTITL
Many rappers dropped their best projects or one of their best projects in 2015. And we still had good music in other genres, like Currents. Dafuq you mean no good reason
5 years from now people will be reminiscing about the year when Donda and CLB dropped
whoever said this year was mid is having a horrible year. pity them
it's nice if they have something compelling to say or ruminate about like oldies in youtube comments (i mean you'll even find ~40 year old oldheads with great writing on there) whereas these are just content farming with gta pedestrians in the comments
Oohhh BROTHER
girl who tweeted that is fine, she yours?
bout to steal her from you cause of this dumbass thread
lmao
"i remember doing doordash, taking off my n95 & doing 90 on i-85 to In The Bible...i was going through it with shauty so the drunk flow just hit different...i miss those late panny times"

35-50
i know that's wide but he really could have been any
closer to the older end tho
@gabapentin too accurate........ (genuine talk - how's your top lists looking this year i'm keen to see)
sorry for late reply i had to go into work right as you asked
im pretty basic i guess
and not as tapped into the scene as i used to be, i listened to a comparatively small amount of new music (i.e not enough to make a full list)
vince staples album is an incredible work of art, really subtle and sad and bracingly sincere
isaiah rashad album really grew on me, like the other two it creates its own aesthetic universe that I just want to spend time in
Punk was good but only a few songs are still in heavy rotation
i really enjoy DOJA CAT but not in an album way i guess, at least for the new one
Donda and CLB were fine (I think CLB was better t b h)
The Lorde album didn't stick to the ribs but I bet it will click in like February 2023
Olivia Rodrigo is great!
Tyler's album is solid
Cole's I didn't even bump tbh, sorry Jermaine
This LUCKI album is amazing at the close, he's so consistent
And like Meek, migos, trippie, Baby Keem, fine
And ofc I wasn't following non hip-hop or pop at all lol so I missed everything there
Actually the Hovvdy album was AMAZING, that and Vince and Isaiah are top three for me
What about you?

Had an existential crisis during that time
You and me both. 2015 wasn’t a good year personally, but for music it was.
Glad I got out of that rut the following year, and I hope you did too
