To be honest i never cared too much for Lupe in the 2000s. He was always cold with it but Food & Liquor & The Cool aren't personal classics for me like they are for many others. I personally think he started his peak with Tetsuo & Youth and even levelled some more with Drogas Wave which are both 10/10s for me. But lately i always come back to this track off The Cool. Really has a hypnotizing effect to it that makes me want to revisit this joint all the time
Thoughts?
Yes
This, The Coolest, Gotta Eat, Put You On Game, etc are the best lyrical rap tracks ever
Revisit The Cool as a whole until you see the light
i swear someone made this thread like a week ago.
agree though. lupe was untouchable here

Yeah I saw the same thread too lol
His first peak was objectively in the ‘00s
If you wanna talk about multiple peaks then i wouldn't argue this, especially popularity wise you right. But his artistic peak came later for me personally. Like i said Tetsuo & Youth and Drogas Wave are perfect hiphop albums imo
I never connected with his earlier albums all the way through the same way. But his writing skills have always been on another level

Damn, synchronicity real
I'm fearless, now hear this, I'm earless
And I'm peerless, that means I'm eyeless
Which means I'm tearless, which means my iris
Resides where my ears is, which means I'm blinded
But I'ma find it, I can feel its nearness
But I'ma veer, so I don't come near
Like a chicken or a deer, but I remember
I'm not a listener or a seer so my windshield smear
Here you steer, I really shouldn't be behind this
Clearly cause my blindness
The windshield is menstrual, the whole grill is roadkill
So trill and so sincere, yeah, I'm both them there
Took both pills when the bloke in the trench coat
And the locs in the chair had approached him here
Made it clear as a ghost or a biter of the throats in the mirror
The writer of the quotes for the ghosts
Who supplier of the notes to the living
Riveting as Rosie, pockets full of posies
Given to the mother of the deceased
Awake and at war 'til I'm resting in peace
so cold

The Cool was just a really fly project as a whole, i used to play the s*** out of it way back when.
i can't seem to revisit it for whatever reason but maybe one day
