    Hi-C

Also you completely disregarded the part where they talk about the goal that each artist has. If you’re not tryna accomplish being a hit maker, or a lyricist, s***s gonna sound one dimensional if you aren’t a fan of that style. Lyricism can sound one dimensional if that’s the only thing you care about. If you’re focused on being an artist, that comes with being more versatile.

Idk I think of rapping or hip hop as like when you playing an RPG and you have to figure out your attributes. Some people like to have a well balanced character. But not everyone plays the game the same way. It’s the same s*** as hip hop. They all playing the same game, it’s just they put their skill points in certain areas to do what works best for their style. The a***ogy kinda nerdy but I think it describes what they are talking about the best

I’m upset because you misrepresenting them. And you misrepresented the video entirely. You pulled a small point out of the entire thing lol. You missed the part that talked about how artists focus on different aspects because they have different goals. Yeah no s*** Push gonna sound repetitive with his subject matter. His goal isn’t to hit make. Like you just cherry-picking dudes who don’t make music you fw to slander some artists and bait people into reacting lol. I’m just being real with you. Just not gonna agree with this take because they all make different s*** and are versatile, even if you don’t like them

Idk how someone can say Freddie isn’t versatile when he has an album like Bandana and an album like Freddie and they both pretty good. I’ve heard Freddie rap over edm beats and make the s*** sound nice. He can rap over virtually any beat and make it sound good. I get if you don’t like his delivery but that’s not even close to the same as being one dimensional

uhh i watched the entire video and even went and found the longer version because i enjoyed their discussion. Im not misrepresenting anything. I could go even further and address the part where they mention some artists having smaller goals but that only furthers the point I normally make on ktt. They are limited so it's hilarious when yall compare them to other rappers who are way more versatile and can do a million things. Those are great artists. In basketball some players are only spot up shooters. Others pass, create their own shot, defend, set picks can play multiple positions, and do more which allows them to be greater. You can't be the best or greatest when you limit yourself. Yes, Pusha t is one dimensional. Pusha has tried to be more marketable in some instances. He's just not good at it. Pusha is only known for coke rap and that's all he really does

I mean you can say that but they literally said “you have to be self aware.” I don’t think Push isn’t aware he can’t sing nor does he want to do that music. Just because you’re really good at one thing doesn’t mean you can’t be great.

To go with your basketball a***ogy. Look at Dennis Rodman. Dude really was only good at defense and rebounding but he’s a legend. He knew his role and played his ass off and he was a big reason Jordan and Pippen won. There are a lot of basketball players that are greats that aren’t the best ever. Push can be the best in his lane (which he is) without being the greatest ever. Being all around good doesn’t mean you are better than someone who is really great at a few things.

And you gonna act like Push doesn’t have hits? Like really? Dude managed to cultivate a dedicated fan base and has been relevant for longer than a lot of other rappers who are considered better rappers than he is. He’s more popular than Royce and Lupe who are objectively better MCs. So does that mean they aren’t great because Push is more popular?

Ok. Their fans aren't self aware.

Pusha fans act like he's the greatest ever or one of. I never said he wasn't a legend

Comparing Pusha to Royce isn't fair cause Royce is indie and Pusha isn't. Royce also been around as a solo artist longer and continues to get bigger. Lupe vs Pusha sure but Lupe also had a run where he was one of the hottest MCs out with hits where he's the main artist. Pusha never had this. Pusha might be more relevant now but how long did it take for him to establish himself as a solo artist. Again, not really comparable. A lot of mfs think Pusha a rapper from the 2010s for a reason. Most his fans rn didnt even know who he was during clipse era.

I mean that’s just because he was associated with Ye. I’m not gonna deny his Clipse run kinda unknown by most of his rap fans now. I think Push definitely is one of the best out now. Every rapper thinks that way though. I’m sure Kanye thinks he’s an ill lyricist. It’s natural. Same s*** in basketball too. Every player thinks they’re one of the best. It’s just being competitive and having confidence, I don’t see an issue.

Regardless, I just can’t really get behind the whole “one dimensional take.” There are plenty of rappers who rap about the same s***. It would be different if Push rapped over the same beats with the same hooks and same flows. Clearly he doesn’t. Look at the three songs I linked you. None of those songs have the same flow or same beat at all. I just don’t really see how it’s justified. I can find plenty more examples of all of those artists you listed and show you how it isn’t similar at all

  • I just dont know how anyone can say Earl is one dimensional when he's literally gone through stages in his career.

He doesn't rap anyway on SRS like he did on IDLSIDGO. He don't rap on Doris like he used to rap on EARL.

In fact people use his "new way of rapping" to hate on him because his flows aren't as intricate as he used to be. He literally changed up the style my g.

But this why Durkio Stanfield is Durkio Stanfield, you don't even have good reasons to back up your takes.

A lot of Pusha songs sound the same when breaking down flow delivery cadence tbh. Even them songs you named not so much different.

Im not denying Pusha's ability as a lyricist. Just saying hes kinda limited.

Bumping this thread just to prove myself more. Listened to this 03 Greedo song with Freddie and it literally sounds like nothing I’ve heard by him before. Idk how you could ever hear some s*** like this and tell me Freddie is limited or 1D.

earl is not linear or redundant. maybe pusha is with his subject matter (which he changes up sometimes) but he definitely has progressed as a writer and artist.
