You missed the part that talked about how artists focus on different aspects because they have different goals. Yeah no s*** Push gonna sound repetitive with his subject matter. Idk how someone can say Freddie isn’t versatile when he has an album like Bandana and an album like Freddie and they both pretty good. I’ve heard Freddie rap over edm beats and make the s*** sound nice. He can rap over virtually any beat and make it sound good. I get if you don’t like his delivery but that’s not even close to the same as being one dimensional

uhh i watched the entire video and even went and found the longer version because i enjoyed their discussion. Im not misrepresenting anything. I could go even further and address the part where they mention some artists having smaller goals but that only furthers the point I normally make on ktt. They are limited so it's hilarious when yall compare them to other rappers who are way more versatile and can do a million things. Those are great artists. In basketball some players are only spot up shooters. Others pass, create their own shot, defend, set picks can play multiple positions, and do more which allows them to be greater. You can't be the best or greatest when you limit yourself. Yes, Pusha t is one dimensional. Pusha has tried to be more marketable in some instances. He's just not good at it. Pusha is only known for coke rap and that's all he really does

I mean you can say that but they literally said “you have to be self aware.” I don’t think Push isn’t aware he can’t sing nor does he want to do that music. Just because you’re really good at one thing doesn’t mean you can’t be great.

To go with your basketball a***ogy. Look at Dennis Rodman. Dude really was only good at defense and rebounding but he’s a legend. He knew his role and played his ass off and he was a big reason Jordan and Pippen won. There are a lot of basketball players that are greats that aren’t the best ever. Push can be the best in his lane (which he is) without being the greatest ever. Being all around good doesn’t mean you are better than someone who is really great at a few things.

And you gonna act like Push doesn’t have hits? Like really? Dude managed to cultivate a dedicated fan base and has been relevant for longer than a lot of other rappers who are considered better rappers than he is. He’s more popular than Royce and Lupe who are objectively better MCs. So does that mean they aren’t great because Push is more popular?

Comparing Pusha to Royce isn't fair cause Royce is indie and Pusha isn't. Royce also been around as a solo artist longer and continues to get bigger. Lupe vs Pusha sure but Lupe also had a run where he was one of the hottest MCs out with hits where he's the main artist. Pusha never had this. Pusha might be more relevant now but how long did it take for him to establish himself as a solo artist. Again, not really comparable. A lot of mfs think Pusha a rapper from the 2010s for a reason. Most his fans rn didnt even know who he was during clipse era.

I mean that’s just because he was associated with Ye. I’m not gonna deny his Clipse run kinda unknown by most of his rap fans now. I think Push definitely is one of the best out now. Every rapper thinks that way though. I’m sure Kanye thinks he’s an ill lyricist. It’s natural. Same s*** in basketball too. Every player thinks they’re one of the best. It’s just being competitive and having confidence, I don’t see an issue.

Regardless, I just can’t really get behind the whole “one dimensional take.” There are plenty of rappers who rap about the same s***. It would be different if Push rapped over the same beats with the same hooks and same flows. Clearly he doesn’t. Look at the three songs I linked you. None of those songs have the same flow or same beat at all. I just don’t really see how it’s justified. I can find plenty more examples of all of those artists you listed and show you how it isn’t similar at all
