The bar for a good Kanye album isn’t solid though

The audacity to think otherwise.

Its crazy how kanye makes these good albums on the run doing 100 other things at the same time. Other artists take years and come out with mid.

If he’s not gonna rap like KSG then Ghost Town is the prime example of the music he SHOULD be making here on out

Nothing wrong with taking a backseat on songs

You are tripping if you dont think violent crimes and wouldnt leave are beautiful songs

Ye but especially ghost town and especially the start of ghost town immediately transports me back to summer 2018

its an album made for us (fans) outsiders can dislike and its ok

'ye' and 'jesus is king' are the first kanye albums that i almost never revisit

But violent crimes lost a ton of appeal when I found out he didn’t write it at all. Wouldn’t Leave is great but it’s like a comparing a solid Kanye song to one of his best ever obviously I’m gonna say he should make music in the vein of the latter

its utter trash and the best melody on the album wasnt written by him and the best and most personal verse wasnt written by him

Ok album like JIK, a 6/7 and mid for Kanye’s standards

The whole thing about him not writing Violent crimes is overblown if you ask me. If you’re ok with Gorgeous then I think this is similar. I get how the personal song topic makes people feel different but you have to also remember that it wasn’t just Pardison writing it himself, Nicki sent Kanye a voice note which got incorporated so obviously Kanye was still masterminding what was being said

I see kanyes music like a mercedes or an iPhone. He takes the basic parts from other people and then makes it great. All the demos for him that leaked confirm this.

All I ask for from Kanye with a song like that is that he at least allows me the illusion that he had a significant role in writing
But he had to f***ing go and tweet about how pardison wrote all of it or whatever
I still like the song but I’m not gonna pretend like it didn’t lose a ton of its impact with that
With gorgeous I can still give him benefit of the doubt that he wrote at least a fair amount

I feel like he was just giving credit and maybe went a little overboard. Like I said, it’s not like Nicki sent that voicemail to Pardison, that shows that Kanye had input on the lyrics and I’m sure he and Pardison were sitting down and talking about the concept

Violent Crimes is the only good song on Ye and he didn’t even make it

Look I still like the album a lot
I just think he can clearly do better and I know he has a ton of diehards and I used to be one but at some point y’all just gotta be able to take a step back and look at an album like Fantasy and think is this really the best he can do
Because you hear a song like Ghost Town or even a project like KSG and it’s so clearly beyond so much of his current output I don’t get how you can argue that he’s really putting that level of effort into his music as a whole
I get he has other ventures and etc but at the end of the day when I listen to his music I wanna hear Kanye being Kanye and making f***ing outstanding music and I just feel like since 2013 I’ve only heard that in flashes and those flashes are becoming less and less common

its better than JIK at least

Of course he can do better and Ghost Town is the clear standout. I have mixed feelings about the album but it just doesn’t have to do with who wrote on Violent Crimes. I came to terms with the fact that there’s a chance Kanye hasn’t written one word of his discography a long time ago
