It didn’t get crazy mainstream attention but the singles did well
Album was ahead of it’s time so it didn’t have same replay value during the period it came out
I remember I was on a party bus and a nigga played “I’m in it” had a weird vibe I could tell it was scaring the hoes
TLOP did have more mainstream success cuz it was less experimental
Ahahaha I have a similar story playing I’m in it around the hoes, put it on in the car when I was maybe 16 or so. I thought it was all good because they were ok with The Weeknd’s Or Nah remix which had some spicy lines but I def scared the hoes w that one

Don’t matter I been around for awhile I bought late off LR on a Motorola razor got in trouble for that s*** when my moms saw the charge on the phone bill
Really put your hand on the stove for this one
it did not take this doc for people to appreciate kanye first album
This thread is a clear example of this.
Which songs
Uhhh silver surfer is dumb, I love Kanye, & Low lights for me
Yeezus isn’t bad but I will always stand by knowing/feeling in real time that thats when he was really “gone” + Sway moment and Kim
I look at this time period as when he first put music 2nd to product tbh. He completed what he wanted to do solely as a musician (make an all time great album after people told him he couldn’t do that + out rap his idol/hottest rapper Hov on a collab album)
during this time and after he was aiming to hit the ceiling of being the best in product which he’s achieved and still hungry for. Musically he has nothing else to prove so that’s why I stopped looking for another classic tbh
TLOP is bottom 3 in his discog for me
So

I agree with you not better than any before it

Lmaoo miss this era
TLOP was a lot of r/Kanye and Twitter Ye stans' gateway to Kanye so it gets put on a pedestal by a lot of young stans.
CD was the gateway to Kanye for a different/older audience that's not as rabid on social media, hence why it may seem like TLOP gets praised more than CD.
But, in reality, CD was a more universally praised classic when it came out.
Well duh keep it real how often you hear ppl mention tcd when talking ye albums on here
Often. I mainly converse with and hang around other Black people.
tcd better but pablo means more to me personally, I'd say it's a lot closer to kanye's first six than ppl are ready to admit
its is better overall but pablo has so many mesmerizing moments that dropout just can't come close too if that makes any sense
