“Money just keep comin' in, you would think I'm Irish
The way that it stays doublin'
I could feed a country with the tax that I pay governments
Whatever they're doin' with my cash
    is very troublin'”

    Level 1

So obviously Dublin is the capital of Ireland so when he says Money just keep comin' in, you would think I'm Irish
The way that it stays doublin'
the surface level meaning is his money keeps doubling up. Most people get that line but I don’t think people peeped the other two levels

    Level 2

The next two lines reveal the double meaning of the bar: I could feed a country with the tax that I pay governments
Whatever they're doin' with my cash
    is very troublin'
That line essentially refers to the money Drake keeps in offshore accounts so in the previous line Money just keep comin' in, you would think I'm Irish
The way that it stays doublin'
he’s saying you would think I’m an Irish citizen because I have so much money there, it literally “Stays in Dublin”

    Level 3

The first two levels makes it a clean double entendre but there is still another layer that completes the triple. Drake has spit many double entendres through his career so he breaks the 4th wall a bit with the line ”you would think I'm Irish
The way that it stays doublin”
    His metaphors “stay doubling”

    Exceptional wordplay

Caught all 3 levels when it first came out but I was listening to it today and remembered just how crazy this line was

Reach, it’s barely a double entendre, just a dope play on words

  • May 24, 2023

“Show the waves, this is no cap” from Losses is the most clear triple entendre in Drake’s discography.

How is it a reach? It’s a metaphor with 3 meanings as clear as day. You think it was just a coincidence? Drake is one of the most methodical writers in rap none of that s*** is by accident

I always thought it was also because the Irish are known for their luck w their pots of gold and s*** that’s why his money keeps doubling (like he’s winning in a casino maybe)

It's not barely a double entendre, it IS a legit double entendre. Though op reaching with it being a triple

Y’all really think Drake wasn’t aware he was creating a double entendre while using the word Dublin? He knew damn well it was a double and he knows he’s known for doubles there for he “stays doublin” come on now

You basically saying all Irish people leprechauns Lmaoo

Like I said idgaf didn’t offend me personally, I’m black but yeah I highly doubt that’s what Drake was saying there 😂

Edit: wait no I see your point now, from a “luck of the irish” perspective “money just keep comin in you would think I’m irish”

Could be a quadruple upon further review

Ok you know I’m not saying that at all.

But I didn’t know Leprechauns were seen as racist, so I apologise for that.
