Remind me what's your experience with NWR so far and how do you feel about his work? Funny that we just talked in the thread about slow stuff.. cause this is actually one of the slowest moving things ive ever seen

I think visually NWR is a masterclass, great director…terrible writer IMO. Hence why Drive is my favorite from him. Only god forgives visually is amazing but I didn’t care for the writing at all.
I tried to watch this and I guess I wasn’t expecting it to start off as slow as it did and then suddenly BAM oh boy gets killed lol
What show is this?

Lol Too Old To Die Young is even slower than OGF at times, not sure if you would like it. It's more fleshed out than his films in terms of writing but that's also due to the fact that it's a series instead of just feature length. If you really like NWR going full NWR then you'll love TOTDY. If you don't then you'll probably won't get through the endurance test NWR placed in Episode 2 to filter out everybody who isn't in for that type of ride
It's his magnum opus to me though, so far
I personally think Drive is mad overrated (still have it at a 4 or 4.5/5, but like most people would say it's his best but i believe it to be like 5th best or so) OGF characters are much more interesting to me because of that weird dynamic between them and it looks more flashy than Drive too

Lol I had a feeling you’d say drive is overrated or I seen you mention that before.
Ima give the show another watch…one of my homies was raving bout it the other day. And visually I can just sit back and watch what NWR does even if it’s not much going on.
I think only god forgives could of been a better film than drive for me if the writing was executed by someone better

Wait so OGF is 5/5 for you then?

TOTDY & OGF are the NWR projects that are masterpieces to me so yeah
Then it's Neon Demon, then Pusher II and then Drive
But i'm anticipating Copenhagen Cowboy to be top tier as well so that will drop Drive even further down, even though i think it's still great
damn didnt laugh once
I can't phantom how one couldn't laugh at the juxtaposition of Miles' dry face and demeanor and the wild s*** you hear from his cop colleague... all while he's meeting up with this underworld crime lord who's just as baffled hearing that
Perfect dry humor a la Twin Peaks
Hate to hear you didnt get it brother

Wait where does Bronson rank??
So essentially if Drive is 5th and gets a 4-4.5/5 then all the other films are 4.5-5/5….NWR one of your favorites then? Cus that’s pretty impressive to have 5 films that’s at least a 4/5 or higher

Def up there, did you assume any different though? What NWR makes is basically a template of my taste
Visuals, neon lights accompanied by electronic soundtrack, dark humor that suddenly can turn into brutal violent outbursts, hypnotic pacing, esoteric themes
That's about as Flyhiii as cinema can get fam

1 & 2 are 5/5
3, 4, 5 are 4.5/5
6 & 7 are 4/5
8 & 9 are 3.5/5
Fear X in last place is a 3/5

Lol I feel you. So then do you think NWR is better suited for mini-series then vs films? That way he has more time to flesh s*** out

It depends, i don't have a preference because so far he's shown he can pull off both things but the thing with the miniseries is that it really allows you to get lost in his world which does help the extremely slow pace in a good way
