You're not missing anything. It's using the Super Freak song by Rick James. It's basically like First Class the sample carries it and it's not as good as the og version. It could go #1 but the quality is so bad that it doesn't help make the song better

Nicki has been outclassing new artists since ~2009 as far as rapping goes. One of the only artists who uses more than just a couple flows and tries different flows often (even in this new track)

Her debut album is one of the best sounding hip hop albums of all time (production is great you can crank it way up and still have clean audio), has excellent R&B, Rap, Pop fusion. She’s a pop star who raps, most artists never reach that level where they can make whatever kind of music they want instead of always making the songs people “want to hear” as someone alluded to earlier that Nicki “hasn’t been the hip hop artist people have wanted in over a decade”, yeah she hasn’t because she doesn’t have to pander to random people.

Whether you like her or not, 2010-2020(+?) was Nicki vs Drake as far as new artists go.
