One of my favourite albums of all time, and my favourite Mac album, always in rotation
i love the delicate dance of how the happy-go-lucky, chill and carefree persona that Mac had established slowly unravels entirely throughout this project with its very dark and heavy subject matter, specifically the albums narrative of his issues with his absent dad there's so many undertones of anxiety and dread swept under the colourful mellow production
Watching Him Fade Away hitting alot different in lieu of his dads passing last year (the album hits different after the fact too but especially that song)
Moonlight on the river is in my top 10 favourite songs EVER
great live performances from this era too with entirely different takes on songs LOVE this version of "My Old Man"
F***
Beautifully wrote bro I agree wholeheartedly. Mac poured his soul into this
Amazing album indeed! Haven't listened to it in a min tho gonna give it a spin again tmr
One of the more sadder songs out there
!https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=x8cFcSq4EIs&pp=ygUWd2F0Y2hpbmcgaGltIGZhZGUgYXdheQ%3D%3DI'm home from work so I can dig into this discussion for real now, but straight up bro, this songs emotions are very unique and it's hard not to feel sad when you think about your own dad
Bro dropped his most mature piece of art then f***ed off to make a goofy ass album about being a cowboy then go mostly radio silent for 5 years

hahahah on God, probably took a lot out of him emotionally to make this
Amazing album indeed! Haven't listened to it in a min tho gonna give it a spin again tmr
I just listened to it after a bad breakup and it hit me 100x harder
Beautifully wrote bro I agree wholeheartedly. Mac poured his soul into this
thank you he really did
the songs on it hit so hard
its crazy how the stark songwriting here is such a far cry from Salad Days/2/Another One
"Havent got the guts to call him up"
i'd love to be a fly on the wall when he was making "Moonlight on the river" and see the sessions of him putting together that beautiful mind-unraveling outro
