Yeah thats what happens with good songs sometimes, they last
That’s not really what’s happening here though. If you took the most loved s*** from 2010-2015 all of it wouldn’t necessarily just work now it would only be the trapped out s*** lmao. Waves by Joey or Hands on The Wheel wouldn’t really make a peep in this climate but it’s a great song for it’s time
Again what do y’all gain from playing dumb like this lol
He isn’t saying Future’s music still sounds like that, hes saying the current climate would still allow that song to have the same success it did back then
sometimes I hate these rush to reply with something snarky or funny ass niggas man
You’re cherry picking but why
Overall an artist whether it’s future or someone else could drop this today and it would be successful
What is your motivation for acting as if that isn’t true lol
Cherry picking a subgenre to complain about the state of hip hop ain’t cherry-picking?

What success? Did that song even chart?

I mean different time, it would definitely chart now. It wasn’t released as a single back then it was for free, song was hot as hell though

Not when the general point is that a song from ten years ago in rap could work today without it being some retro nostalgia sample bait and that’s never really been true for rap before until the 2020’s
Glad you can acknowledge your post was cherry picking though

More cherry picking lol
mad side random arguments to not just say “yeah hip hop has stagnated to where that song would work today” lmao
that music video definitely has a few funny mid 2010s trends and style choices now if you have a keen eye for that stuff but i get it

i don't know why we're acting like rap jumps dramatically in sound as a rule every 10 years though
people like Future and Drake still got the game in a headlock, so obviously their sound is still dominant
same people complaining about this are the ones who hear the rappers like Carti, Uzi, Trippie, Lancey Foux, Yeat, etc that actually try different stuff & put them in the box of 'weirdo rappers'

90’s > 2000’s and 2000’s > 2010’s absolutely had that type of dramatic trend jump
I’d love to hear records yall feel like woulda worked ten years later before like 2018 lol
I love the guys that you listed as a whole but Carti perfect example of someone that looks to be gearing up to just do mixtape run future/keef cosplay lol and it’s gonna be the greatest s*** ever (it non ironically will be good but that a perfect example)

“This stuff in this song aged well therefor nothing in hip hop has changed.” Great point. Just say you giving him a pass for 🍒 picking because you agree with him cuh.

But it’s not just that song. That video just happened to be on Chucks timeline and was a great place to make the point but again you’re ignoring that things like glo beats which are Chief Keef beats which are 2000’s shawty Redd beats pretty much the same thing applies
If Quavo and Offset essentially remade YRN1 (the original mixtape) with the wacky Zaytoven beats and the appropriate visuals niggas would act like they just cracked a code relative to the lukewarm reaction to all of their music since the first Culture lol
Uzi was and maybe still is finna release an album cosplaying as 2014 young thug with the same album title aesthetic and even got Birdman to pretend to be his “daddy” for a month ? lol
There are plenty of things from plenty of non “timeless” rappers or rap songs that were trendy tropes in 2013 that could work in 2023
Again i don’t get what y’all gain from acting like that’s not true lol
When Future Nostalgia came out, it made me realize that this song from 2005 fits in perfectly with modern pop music
