umm it's pretty f***ing good. He blended 90's group R&B (like Boyz II Men) with trap drums, and his drums sound better than most trap artists. The mix is immaculate. His voice at the very forefront in syncopation with the drum rhythm. It's quite complex.

I’m at Berklee and I gotta tell you something bro. Complexity does not equal good music!! Everything Charlie Puth does is gonna sneak some complexity in there, but that doesn’t mean it’ll make me feel any emotion other than regret for allowing sound waves of his dog s*** into my ears

Ya he’s a musical genius 100%. But what he chooses to do with his skill and talent is mind boggling uncreative and boring. His style of pop seems extremely unaware and lacking of any actual interesting aesthetic choices

you can use these 808 drums and not call it trap
