This whole notion that rappers/celebs etc need to rush to their computers and type up something sappy within 72 hours of anything happening is so dumb.

Saw that people are attacking Kendrick for "remaining silent". How dense can you be just because some people don't live vicariously through facebook and twitter doesn't mean they don't care.

Not everyone posts their every thought, frustration, and prayer on the internet for people to see.

TBH I don't think it should be praised at all. TF is a public statement doing ?

'I'm not going to actually pray but I'm just going to tweet 'all my prayers go...'

    Just announcing you're upset ?

I remember there was a thread on Post Malone remaining silent until he posted something on the issue. Is that all it takes ?

I swear it's the people who can't take a s*** without announcing who demands tweets as valid responses to stuff like this.

celebrities have a platform n lots of influence

its all pr bullshit but it can actually have a positive impact

Instead of posting generic statements of support, I'd rather influencers retweet content that is a thousand times more insightful and nuanced than anything they could come up with. That's what I do. It's not about your viewpoint in isolation, it's about sharing ideas.

that's true but my thing is these internet guys literally DEMAND responses and if you haven't said anything within two or three day you're in trouble

I'm only talking about this cause I'm not a dan of social media myself and I keep almost all my private thoughts off of it.

and in the case of Kendrick..

The guy made a whole 60 minute album about the black experience in America and now people are upset because he hasnt used 140 characters to express how outraged he is

yeah but forcing them to do so by spamming comments just gonna lead to a rushed PR statement

    Twitter is a funny place

They gonn f*** you up bc you didn't say a thing
But then try to cancel guys like Matty Healy from 1975 for posting a song he wrote 3years ago talking about that subject

So you want people to be free in expressing their emotions or you want them to stay silent?

I don’t blame people for protecting their vibrations by taking a news & social media break rn, I’m probably gonna do the same if this keeps going on

Supposed to be a time where we all put aside our differences and unite against the common enemy, but everyone is so f***ing anxious and depressed from months of quarantine and being told that a virus is going to kill us all that we’re just jumping on opportunities to tear others down and divide ourselves even more

We need Jesus to come back fr

Black people don't owe anyone s*** right now - you don't have to perform your sadness/trauma on social media because some random person on Twitter wants you to.

In the age of internet slacktivism, empty signaling by posting a black square or retweeting Shaun King is more valuable than actually being in the trenches and fighting to make a qualitative difference.
