*Canada lol (so if you said on this side of the Atlantic, yeah), but you’re right that is it tbh. Montreal (especially Old Montreal) is like Paris (it was a settler colony for France at one point).

Also, question-- do you need a rental to move around the city, or is it fine if we rely on public transit/walking?

Activities, food. If there's any notable fashion-related s*** too.

Good bars/pubs to be on the look out for too would be great.

    Food:

    • Jardin Nelson (Outdoor)

    • Pincette

    • Le Blossom

    • Canal Lounge (Restaurant on a tiny boat on the Lachine Canal)

    • Chez LĂ©vĂȘque (France cuisine)

    • L'Express (high end France cuisine)

    • Candide (high end seasonal menu)

    • Club Chasse et PĂȘche (high end seasonal menu)

    • Liverpool House (high end seasonal menu)

    • Escondite

    • Tiradito (Peruvian-Asian fusion)

    • Sushi Momo (Best vegan sushis in Montreal and North-America no cap)

    • Moretti's

    • Le PassĂ© ComposĂ© (Best brunch in Montreal)

    • Arthur's Nosh (2nd best brunch in Montreal)

    Bars:

    • Montreal has a lot of microbreweries with their own bars in the city. Try Dieu du Ciel, Pub West Shefford, L'AmĂšre Ă  boire or Saint-Houblon

    • Terasse Bonsecours (More a nightclub. Already posted in this thread.)

    • Santos (Latin ambiance)

    • El Furniture Warehouse (McGill hangout spot)

    • Le Warehouse (Sister bar to el furniture, but on Saint-Laurent. French people more than English, but everyone in Montreal that goes out pretty much speaks English)

    • Pub Winston Churchill (McGill hangout spot)

    • Mad Hatter (McGill hangout spot)

    • Clandestino (Hidden Mezcal bar)

    • Atwater cocktail club (Hidden Speakeasy. Best cocktails in the city, but a bit expensive)

    • La Drinkerie (2nd best cocktails in the city. Chill vibe, not much ambiance)

    • La Distillerie (3rd best cocktails in Montreal.)

    • CafĂ© Campus (French Uni hangout)

    • CafĂ© Gitana (Moroccan hookah lounge)

    • Le MinĂ©ral (lowkey bar)

Supper clubs (semi-older crowds depending on the nights. 24 to 35):

    • La VoĂ»te

    • Le Soubois

    • B12 (new. Just opened a month ago)

    • Le Confessional

    • Kampaii Garden (Baddest blonde girls in Montreal pre-covid.)

    • SalsathĂšque (More a nightclub, but best place to dance in the city)

    • Don B Comber, Blv44, École PrivĂ©e, Peopl & Apt200 ( All of them are overrated, but still safe option when it comes to nightclubs on Saint-Laurent. All of them are within 10min walks from each other. If you want to skip the line, you have to get there early like around 10/10:30.)

    • Somwhr (Nightclub. Hip-Hop only)

    Fashion

    • Ssense physical store

    • Rooney

    • École de PensĂ©e

    • Dime store MTL

    • Off the hook (although I think they closed most of their stores post covid)

    • Holt Renfew (Designer stuff for slightly cheaper than in the US in some cases)

    • Promendades Mont-Royal (Haven't been since covid)

    Activities:

    • Piknic Elektronik (Every sunday outdoor DJ set at Jean-Drapeau. I think it's 20 bucks, but I'm not sure it's been a while) Kaytranada is performing in June I think.

    • Go for a stroll in Old Port

    • Visit the Mile End. While you're there try the Montreal bagels at Fairmount or St-Viateur and try the cheap gnocchis at Drogheria Fine.

    • Visit the Mont-Royal and the BelvĂ©dĂšre at the top.

    • McCord Museum (If you're into fashion or indigenous culture)

    • Museum of fine arts. (There's a Frida Kahlo exposition this summer I think)

    • If you're there during festival season, be sure to be outside downtown or old port during those times.

    • Visit the mural artworks made for MURAL festival.

You can do everything in Montreal in public transport. Going from end to end can be long though, but definitely don't go downtown or in Old Port with a car because you won't find any parking spaces or you'll get f***ed over paying for parking for the night.

HOLY S*** YOU WENT OFF. Thank you SO much man. It's an honor getting recommendations from the city himself. Saving this s*** immediately to a Word doc.

I appreciate it a ton. Definitely gonna try and go to as many spots on here as possible. Think I'll be there for 2 weeks so it should be plenty of time to get through a good chunk of these.

Public transit is pretty good in the city. Plus if you’re going in the summer, you can use bixis, which are a public bike renting service and is pretty affordable

  • May 25, 2022

@Montreal you forgot visiting the Stadium lol. Aren’t there outdoor bars also happening there during the summer?
