Would it be weird if a 22 / 23 year old was friends with a 28 year old

nothing weird about it really imo

we all got diff interests and hobbies. I have a couple friends 5-6 years younger than me and we get along but I'll be honest that I just bond a lot more with my childhood friends that are my age

Not weird at all. When I was 27 I would hang out with my neighbor who’s like 40 at my last apartment. If you get along you get along. I have friends in the art world that are 35 and have kids. But if you click, you click.

You could learn some s*** from em I guess

This depends on so many more variables

Why are you friends, what activities are you doing, what is the entire age group for the friend group, etc

I'm friends with people anywhere from like 22 to 50 tbh and a lot are in the same group. A big chunk is due to us all being regulars at the same venue/bar

Generally unless there are specific circumstances that got to that point older people hanging out with younger people happen because they ain’t s*** and people around their age (and have that general knowledge of said age) don’t want to hang around someone like that. Maybe not specific to you OP but like another user said depending on what y’all are doing and what the dynamic is could give more clarity

We just hang like normal friends and game sometimes

Seems pretty harmless long as there isn’t a weird dynamic of them trying to act like you are entitled to them then it’s cool

My best friend is 25 and I'm 33

Once you get past a certain age you're in generally the same place in life and capable of similar goals.

If its literally just friends then idk why it matters too much after 20-somethings. This truly just depends on how well you are in socialization, and what your interests are/workplace

I’m in discord calls with kids literally half my age. There’s literally nothing going on besides having fun over similar interests. Plus it’s not even a romantic relationship so why would anyone ever overthink it like that
