I’ve had a long, extensive discussion with my son about the most famous Sandwich franchise in United States of America for about one hour (or 60 minutes). Both of us agreed that Subway is overrated and has drastically fallen off quality-wise, like their meat quality has gotten worse, unhealthy bread, soggy vegetables, and rising prices.
Here’s the thing that my son and other Zoomers will never understand, the significance that Subway holds in many older people. It’s the place of good memories, nostalgia, and certain vibe you cannot capture from other chains like Jersey Mikes or Firehouse Subs. Besides, can we acknowledge how chill the place is itself? Fairly quiet and not too overbearing, which makes it the perfect environment to eat the food, at least for someone like me.
Emotionally broke down and cried briefly after one closed in my hometown, as it was my go-to for dinner after school and the memories established with my friends. Even this one manager, who was this older woman, who I seemingly vibed with provided freebies. I’m getting emotional writing this
I had it once recently, about 2 months ago I had did cocaine all night, coming down and it was the only thing close and open at 5am
Sandwich was mid, would not have ate there under any other circumstance
I wish Quiznos survived the 2010s instead of subway
When I was like 20 I’d go to subway pretty often for the veggie delight which is the most unpopular sandwich and I’m not even vegan or vegetarian
I was a big coke head at the time and for some reason I thought it was a better option than salty meats for my complexion but I was really missing out on calories and protein

I Never really loved it
I went recently though
got a tuna fish sandwich w/ honey mustard
it was cool
I paid for a small fountain drink but finessed a medium
nothing crazy
Jason's Deli is quite a bit better, maybe Subway hit differently a few years ago
Jared controversy and the yoga mat bread thing killed off a lot of their support
The current prices don't justify the visits anymore. I would much rather go to a Jimmy John's, Potbelly, or Jersey Mike's at this point.
That unique smell that hits you when you walked into a Subway in the early 2000s can never be topped
Like you almost instantly knew you stepped into a subway even with your eyes closed

But nah it’s cool if you want something specific from there in that moment I guess. Good cookies too

Smell like old farts and pedophiles
