This album doesn't have a clear storyline but I think that there is a loose narrative. I think Abel intended for this to be vague and seen in different ways, and much of it is also symbolic for sure. However, I've gotten a storyline in my head and every time I listen I can't help picture it. Thought I'd share and see if anyone has a different idea of what happens throughout the album.

    Alone Again:
This song kind of starts in the middle of the story. He's already on a Las Vegas bender, and he's trying to convince a stripper to come home with him. It also sets up the theme of him trying to be sober and in a relationship as a disguise to his true self.

    Too Late:
The start of the narrative begins with Abel and Bella in the middle of a shaky relationship. He has taken the blame for something that has happened. He wants to be with her, but he feels like he should move on because the relationship is already corrupted.

    Hardest to Love:
He continues to be sympathetic of her wanting to move on. He seems okay with it, but wants her to remember him.

    Scared to Live:
The relationship is broken off and he wants her to move on and feels sad he held her back.

    Snowchild:
This is a break from the first part of the narrative to where the conflict starts. References Bella and Abel's beginning in the second verse.

    Escape from LA:
Abel and Bella stay in touch, and Bella still isn't over him. The cycle of breaking up and getting back starts again. Abel also starts to drink again after being sober for a year (which is referenced in Faith). He pleads to Bella he needs to escape because he feels like is stability is slipping. Seemingly he has a one night stand while patching things up with Bella, which is the start of his spiral down.

    Heartless:
The first song that takes place in Vegas, he is back to his old ways. But most importantly, in the bridge if the song, he basically says that Bella should never let him go to Vegas alone. And the fact he sings "you can hear it in my tone", she probably knows that he's fallen off the sobriety bandwagon.

    Faith:
He's deep in a d***-state of mind and the song is basically telling Bella that even though he is going through this, he wishes she was there with him, even if OD. The outro is the bridge between this part of the narrative and the next. He blacks out and finds himself in a cop car or an ambulance because he's too f***ed up basically. The bender is over.

    Blinding Lights:
Some time takes place between the bender and this song. He's in Vegas and has continued his hedonistic lifestyle, but he is missing Bella. He's been calling but she hasn't been answering. He realizes he can't rest until he gets back with her.

    In Your Eyes:
He's finally met with Bella, and it's clear her feelings for him has changed. He believes she has cheated, but he overlooks it because he loves her. He also recognizes he's done the same but cannot admit to regret it. They don't get back together and they go their separate ways.

    Save Your Tears:
They run into each other at a party and she's with someone else. This time she ignores him and he can't handle it. He wonders why she didn't ask why he did what he did and wants another chance, but he realizes she deserves someone better.

    Repeat After Me:
More time passes and eventually Bella and Abel have a one night stand. He tries to brainwash her into coming back to him and leaving the guy he's with.

    After Hours:
I think this song becomes very important for the album with this narrative. He admits he can't stop dreaming about her and sleeping has become huge problem. He relives his Vegas bender, but in a completely new sober perspective. He is depressed and is pleading for Bella to come back, and repenting for his sins. It's not clear if she actually gets back with him.

    Until I Bleed Out:
I think people will see this differently, but for me, I think that he ultimately got rejected by Bella and he has been alone unable to get her out of his mind. He doesn't want to be high or anything, but I think he does actually kill himself. The last line, "I keep telling myself I don't need it anymore," seems like it's a reference to his past attempts of sobriety and the ultimate realization he's been telling himself he doesn't need the lifestyle, but has never been successful in a stable life.

it felt like there was a narrative for the first 6 tracks but after that it just stopped.

I think snowchild fits into the narrative and isn’t a break from the plot. Rather it shows us where abel is at in his mindset, he went from broke to superstar and he has it all in L.A yet the superficialities of that L.A lifestyle is pushing him away from the city hence the line “Cali was the mission now a nigga leaving”. The only thing probably keeping him there is his relationship with Bella.

Ahh fair, that makes sense. Honestly, this s***s been on my mind since I started listening to the album. My friend has a completely different take on the whole thing.

Long story short, this got issues and he's clinging to this good girl cause he thinks she can fix him but keeps breaking her heart...Creating a toxic on/off cycle.

But we know very little about the cause of his issues, he really does a good job covering it up with d****, alcohol and toxic relationships(thrse r just symptoms not the real issue).
