of course thriller is an absolute blockbuster and a solid singles album for sure but purple rain is a flawless record from start to finish.

The inspiration is definitely there but again, Bad is still a Michael Jackson-ass album lmao Purple Rain doesn’t have a Liberian Girl , I just can’t stop loving you, Man in the Mirror (Purple Rain’s title track is somewhat in the same lane, but they are definitely separate entities) and def not a Smooth Criminal . Bad & Dirty Diana are the only risqué moments that are in PR’s territory & even then it’s a darker vibe compared to Prince’s flamboyancy & sexuality fueling his edge factor.

Two great albums, I can’t find a good basis to compare them tho.

Darling Nikki is a top 5 song of all time and the fact that Prince wrote, produced and played every instrument himself every single lunatic note of that thing is Prince and there's never been a song that is the complete embodiment of s***like that

After the Wayne versus I played Lady in my life and it finally clicked y'all Perfect album

Off rip as complete album experiences I went with Purple Rain. Then I did a track by track comparison - Purple Rain won 5-4. Mike put up a good fight but it was really the song "Purple Rain" that sealed the deal. Before that it was really neck and neck Thriller is a pop masterpiece, but the album Purple Rain is a masterpiece
