Prince made classics on his own and was a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist. That alone gives him an edge
But that dosent make his music and end product better than Michaels.
That difference is what makes MJ a pop artist and Prince and funk lord/rock god
All due respect to pop artists but one seems to take alot more effort than the other
Lol. It takes just as much effort to make mjs pop as princes funk are you serious? And that does not make it better anyway.

Ok well I like it better either way

Then just say you like it w/o all the extra nonsense.

It is better though MJ has a clutch of classic albums but
Prince
Dirty Mind
1999
Controversy
Purple Rain
Around the World in a Day
Parade
Sign o the Times
The Gold Experience
The range, the the quality and quantity, the hits he didn't have time for and handed to others, the mentoring he did, peak Prince was unstoppable
Sign O the Times better than both
I don’t understand how this is a common take, not even trying to be snarky , am I missing something ?

Are all those albums really classic or just really great to you? Mj had plenty of range as well. You can even go back to Jackson 5. His singles against prince singles aren’t even close.
Purple Rain in the rotation more than Thriller, sorry MJ
Growing up I've heard When Doves Cry as much as I've heard Thriller (title track) / Beat It and I still don't get tired of it so I think that also says a lot about their replayability
Thriller still a good album tho

It's the most consistently good double of all time in my opinion, a lot of people agree and that means a lot when you're talking about 80+ minutes of content
It has such a quirky and insular sound but it reaches out into relatable areas that Prince hadn't gone into very often...the title track is heartbreaking, but he also adds to his complex views on relationships with If I Was Your Girlfriend, I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, Forever in My Life, etc. The Cross is one of his most effective religious tracks.
It's just a really weird and nuanced album, it doesn't sound like anything else but it delivers over and over. No duds, lots of creativity, classic album.

Bro talking about albums and you bringing up singles. Argument wearing thin.
Still waiting on the MJ vs Prince Versuz that never happened
MJ would ruin him in a verzus
But that dosent make his music and end product better than Michaels.
It does on a case by case basis

Because discography vs discography it's not close
And I get MJ was always more of a singles artist, but you've got to give Prince that he had the vision for making great conceptual projects
Listen to the album
I have listened to it , more than once since the first time I heard it in 2011, but I really can’t put it above purple rain . It doesn’t hit my heart the same way as a whole but it does have better singles than PR
Really wish this prince was better than Micheal thing would stop
You know how the contrarians do.
