    lol vapid is subjective
plus not every classic hiphop album has to be conscious or deep.
MOTM, FHD , and Tha Carter 3 aint deep but they're classics.

The Carter 3 is a classic because of its impact, not neccesarily the bars.

    Impact is the key here.

I dont consider the other two albums classics so....

MBDTF was just another Ye album IMO.

So does that mean albums like MBDTF, The Blueprint and TPAB aren't classics.
I remember when The Carter 3 released. it's not like rappers were trying to make the same sound that album had. LR might be my favorite Ye album and I didn't see people fawning over it after it's release or copying Ye's formula

yeah like someone who doesn't even like Ye would easily say his first three are classics. then you have 808's-Yeezus.
theres at least one or two classics in there.

I try to look at things pretty objectively
Drake to me has 2 classics and 1 great album and Im not the biggest drake fan but you cant deny that. he's also the most dominate artist in the last decade
kendrick has at least 2 classics as well.

  • Mmm Hmm

    not a bad album.

    But ye def the weakest.

Ye is 7/7 no skips though. Beautiful grower of an album. Hated it at first not gonna lie, now it’s amazing to me.

LR was critically fawned over and commercially successful and cemented
Kanye as a force in music.

    It won a f***ing Grammy.

Blueprint changed the game when it dropped and brought that Ye/Just Blaze style of production to the forefront. Turned those two guys into stars.

MBDTF won a Grammy too but musically? Its glossy but it didnt really change much rather it just highlighted how much pull Ye had in the industry.

Just not a fave of mine. I don't revisit it as often as other "classics"

    Drake has one classic.

    So Far Gone.

Take Care is cool but it didnt age well.

I personally mess with NWTS but admit it has some slow moments. Wouldnt consider it as good as TC.

I mean one would say it introduced that prog rock/rap production to hiphop and also made albums more cinematic by having a visual film accompany it's release.

but it's not like your alone there are a few ppl excluding Fantano who just don't like the album as much as Ye's previous work.

    stop exposing y'all selves

before he went to prison he absolutely was on the same level as them hence Swagga Like Us having this exact lineup

My entire point here is that that 08-09 timeframe where he was gone was when Ye/Wayne/Hov did 808s/Lollipop/Empire State/Forever Young etc. type records that solidified them with mainstream audiences. along with introducing Sean/Cudi/Nicki/Drake/Cole/etc.

Funny how you bring up that time frame when he released Dead and Gone during that time

You’re trying to put TIP on the same level as Lil Wayne, Jay Z, and Kanye but unlike those artists, most of TI’s music got lost in time

  • Jul 10, 2020

At his peak he was on the same level as them but their peaks were much longer.

Dead and Gone and Live Your Life are f***in motivational speech music lmao compared to Lollipop, Stronger, etc. being club bangers or a song like Flashing Lights still getting quoted in captions to this day

But I guess no one forced TIP to do this

Cept 50 had an actual movement going. Grand Hustle was no G Unit.

I think Tip has bigger Pop records but idk if he can beat 50 if we look at his.mixtape run
