Crazy to see how things change

People can argue about this project or that project all that want but I truly become puzzled when people say Drake doesn’t have ONE project in their opinion that is a classic. The fact that people weigh more about their arbitrary skips rather than tangible proof of certain albums like Take Care literally standing the rest of time (however many weeks on the BB200) is just hilarious to me and I’m not even the type to chart watch or anything but come on after awhile that s*** matters to an extent at a certain point

Classics as an Artist, Not just a rapper:

NWTS, VIEWS, SCORPION, DLDT, HNVM

These types literally lack the cognitive ability to be objective

They don’t like Drake or they don’t respect him or his artistry because of some bias they have and therefore they think that their fringe opinion is enough to discredit all Drake albums from classic contention

Imagine if I didn’t like Jay-Z and I decided to say he has no classics just because of my weird ass taste. I’d get laughed off the internet. But for some reason when it comes to Drake idiots like that get taken seriously.

I think it’s because Drake albums don’t have “validation” from the critics like other rappers do but what people fail to realize is that modern critics are wayyyyyyyyy different than they were 20 years ago. Rap critics who reviewed Jay, Kanye etc actually listened to rap. These critics of today act like all rap that isn’t Kendrick Lamar or jpeg mafia is utter garbage.

I agree. It seems like there are some level of arbitrary lines where an artist like Drake or even beyond the “conscious” level of rap that you mentioned like street rappers get pigeonholed and get held to some weird standard when like you said different sub-genres can co-exist in the rap landscape. Again I’m not really going to press anyone on how they personally feel because it is all subjective but like you said being outright dismissive of quite literally one of the biggest artists of all time and to say that artist doesn’t have a classic body of work is borderline insanity to me
