    Somebody already said Jesus Is King > Donda.

    So, I'll cheat a bit and say Niggaz4Life > The Chronic since Dre had a major hand in both.

    Niggaz4Life was meant to be the raw, gritty soundtrack to the streets of Compton and LA with bold street tales, raunchiness, and ignorance reflecting the times and mind state of people then.

    But it lacked hits and was banned in many places due to how vulgar, edgy, and controversial it was.

    The Chronic basically scaled back on the raunchier and more profane elements of that album and there were far more hits and catchier songs on it. And Snoop had a smoother and more laid back flow than NWA. You still get some of the same raw and edgy elements but more accessible for suburbanites and music critics.

    SB2H -> Passion Pain and Demon Slayin
    Went from cathartic and critically panned grunge album then returned to form
    Revival -> Kamikaze
    Em received backlash for corny bars and an album filled with pop stars, returned to form with his Slim Shady persona dissing everybody

    Are these sequels built on a similar idea or theme tho

    Underneath the Pine -> Anything in Return by Toro y Moi

    I think UtP was really drawn out and psychedelic and emphasized experimentation . Some pretty harsh moments too

    AiR repackaged a lot of the psych sounds into a clean, neat, hiphop inspired album with clear vocals and pop sensibility

    They're pretty much responses to the last one. PPDS was a more triumphant album and Kamikaze is him responding to hate from Revival

    Aaron Aikman from the Spider-Verse comic

  • Testing -> Don’t Be Dumb

    DBD is like a more refined and slightly more pop appealing version of Testing in my mind. The result of the test

  • Freetown Sound and Negro Swan

    They are both post BLM movement albums but I think Negro Swan nails it a bit better.
