“There’s a lot of negative connotation associated with being a Pop artist: It’s cheesy, simple, basic,” she added. “It can be those things, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be…What pop means to me is strong melodies, strong performance, strong persona, catchiness, relatability. A lot of people made me feel that if I went in that direction, I would be watering down my artistry. I feel like, for many years, people were like, ‘Tinashe is corny,’ and it felt like a very lazy critique. Still, to this day, I’m like, what do you mean by that?”
“I try not to dwell on the fact that I feel so underrated, but it depends on the day,” Tinashe stated “There’s times I’ll question my worth because I don’t see the numbers or stats. It’s so easy to compare yourself when there are physical markers like that…I try to zoom out more and respect the space I’m in because it’s not a bad place at all.”

Her and Doja were at the same level for awhile. Doja got extremely lucky (not hating) by going viral with the Moo song and the rest is history.

Jul 29, 2022·2 repliesShe kinda earned her right to talk her s*** honestly. Great mixtapes and a solid debut. Then she was tossed aside and treated like an afterthought by her label, her label had her making music that just wasn't really her thing, and when she naturally underperformed due to lack of support they dropped her. She went independent and dropped two outstanding albums of her making the music she's been wanting to make, had two sold out successful concerts for those albums, and she's basically clawed her way back to the mainstream.

Honestly Moo was just the first song she dropped once she developed a serious hitmaking ability (the whole thing was memeable on top of it which helped). But at the end of the day she just knows how to make hits

Who knows, Her team beyond her probably had a heavy hand in it as well . Whoever it was it feels like they aimed for that Quirky vibe Doja cashed in on but had no actual idea how to
