She was a whole actress man
Had a show on either disney or Cartoon Network I was 10 watching her back in like 2011
Ok?
Tinashe built a core fanbase with her mixtapes, that’s how she got signed in the first place. If anything the label uprooted her with the success of 2 On, which is a song that is not similar to her previous sound she established with her core base. She was not a plant.
7k at $10 an album that’s $70k that’s decent money
this not how it work big fella
iT fAcToR is just good marketing
If it's just marketing, what is stopping her?
I think she has everything she needs, she's fun, sexy, and she can sing and dance. She just f***ed up after Aquarius and people moved on.
This. An artist only gets one, maybe two chances to blow up and she missed on those opportunities.
If it's just marketing, what is stopping her?
Well I'm not a marketing expert but I'm sure that with the right label push anyone can become a star. Travis and Eminem are some of the most boring people I've ever come across and they are massively successful
I saw ppl on Twitter calling a single she put out recently a potential hit, maybe with label backing and s*** it would have become one. Especially if she got that Ariana feat she was supposed to get
She's been around for a long time and ppl already know her and associate her with a lot of corny s***, maybe if she came to the game brand new just now she'd have a chance
But when she puts on her Doja Cat cosplay she's a superstar
u kno iont kno brotha im def gone go wit doja off top but tinashe mght could have dat mf dat u pull out ya s*** n dat mf look like it been dipped in a bucket of crisco, have dat mf glistennin
have you looking like this after you nut :
.
If it's just marketing, what is stopping her?
The fact that there's probably millions of people like me who didn't know that she dropped an album. I still wouldn't know if I didn't see this thread at like 2am this morning fr
Eh i dont care about artists flopping they still make more money than the average human
I thought she'd do 20k-30k range at least
lol what. you seen what her others been doing.
not gettting the hype tho. ain't felt none of her s*** in a while
she be givin off awesome sloppy wet p**** energy... but doja cat came thru n swallowed dat mf lane doe
What is this?
FAX
I'll never understand music-wise how Doja can be so big and Tinashe keeps scratching the bottom. Did we reach the stage where gimmicks are fully more important than the actual product ?
I mean Doja makes good music with gimmicks which is a one up
iT fAcToR is just good marketing
well she need to sign a label if she cares about being big, but it doesn't seem like she cares

Her last label wasn't doing her any favors, that's why she was fed up lol

What's the right label push though?
She had future, Chris Brown, young thug and Britney spears as features
She performed her songs and dance routines on late 'night shows
She had a hit with dj mustard (2 on)
she had multiple interviews with credited radio shows etc
She even had a drake feat that leaked apperently
She has millions of followers across multiple social media platforms
Tinashe has been out infront of enough faces for the public to make their own decision about her tbh - it didn't stick
I really don't think that anything besides very catchy radio hits will make her the popstar she thought she'd be by signing with RCA records
And as an independent artist who lived trough her label "doing her wrong" she should know what to do right, no ? (I'd imagine)
Is it money for more backing that is lacking?
Idk but I really feel like, excuse the harsh words, but no one gives a damn about her nor her talent
She isn't a exceptional talent or at least hasn't marketed herself as an exceptional talent/artist
Her producing doesn't gets talked about nor is it sought after (correct me if I'm wrong but no one besides her core fanbase cares that she's produced her own music and no one relevant is trying to have their records produced by her)
No one besides her core fanbase cares she dances good (Ciara and Janet are better dancers in this rnb game tbh and yes the rnb fans will compare her to the other singers, hell even normani is more liked as a dancer ;she did dancing with the stars which could've helped with that perception)
She isn't an exceptional singer or has a distinct ("unique") voice (having an "unique voice" is mostly marketing but it worked for people like rihanna)
Don't take this post as hate,
I used to root for her but stopped caring cuz the songs and art direction weren't appealing to me - even her fan engagement was weak asl imo
Is it just me or is doja cat is the less hot comedy-style version of Tinashe?
How is doja bigger than Tinashe?
Tinashe never had a Moo moment
I mean Doja makes good music with gimmicks which is a one up
And what I was trying to highlight is the fact that Tinashe also makes good music but without any gimmicks which led her to sell 7k instead of nearly 200k first week (and yeah Doja's album was fun too)

What you mentioned are old traditional tactics that just doesn’t work anymore. Again, she came up in the SoundCloud era. Traditional media outlets does control the narrative of an artist anymore. This isn’t the 2000s.
The label didn’t know what to do with her, it wasn’t entirely their fault because like I said earlier. This was during the transition phase because it was early ‘10s, artist like The Weeknd and PARTYNEXTDOOR were emerging on the scene. Not artist like Ciara or Britney Spears. The success of 2 On a gift and a curse. It made the label believe that’s the route they should go, but it actually wasn’t. It abandoned the sound she created from her mixtapes, leading to an identity crises during her time with RCA.
Just listened to her album cause of this thread. It's alright kinda mid at times but it got some great songs
