Doing a solo trip in December around a few countries in Europe and wanted to get a few tips

Do y’all meet new people while doing it? Do you get lonely? Most importantly how do you take pictures of yourself so that you can post to the gram, do you ask people around to take it for you?

    Don't overthink. Stay distracted.

Walk as much as possible and visit as many things as you can

Trust me you can put the burners on and walk for tens of miles on end if you keep finding intriguing stuff

Also plenty of water and sunscreen

I don't make friends and I don't get lonely. I just enjoy myself and do my own thing. Nothing better than making your own schedule each and every day with the power to change it whenever you want.

I take pics of things that catch my interest. Could be an attraction, could be some of the locals. I don't ask other people to take pics of me.

You're free to do whatever you want tho. If you're the type who thrives off company then stay at a hostel and try to make friends. Go ahead and ask people to take a pic of you. They won't care.

Idk. I spent month alone in Japan way back and felt miserable basically blowing thousands of dollars to live the same lonely, down bad lifestyle in a foreign country. I got some dope photos and clothes out of it though

  • Don't talk to strangers unless you run outta money. Gotta do some strange for some change at that point.

I’ve “technically” done this if you count me traveling to see someone international alone and having complete days where I was all by myself doing whatever going about. I know it’s not the same but I feel I have some minor insight.

    1. Talking to random people is actually a lot easier than you think. Especially in social places like a bar or on the public transits

    2. Know how to navigate around. This was more so important for me on my last day before leaving because I had to be completely alone since my ex at the time had to work. Had to make sure I had the bus routes, trains, and ferry times all figured out and knowing how to get back to the airport when it was time. Allow yourself 2-3 hours for margin of error if you have a deadline to be at a location

    3. Something I didn’t do I wish I did but luckily nothing chaotic happened. However much money you need bare minimum to make it, make sure you have double in case something goes wrong

    4. Don’t keep all your eggs in one basket meaning don’t bring all cash or don’t keep everything on one debit card

    5. Be mindful of the areas you are visiting, research them properly, don’t stray off to unfamiliar parts. Be self aware of people trying to scam, mark, or rob you.

    6. If it’s a long flight with a lot of connections bring deodorant on your carry on
