DJ tags taking 1 second over a song. Skits most times don't age well. Very few are great to listen to through an album experience. Most are trash for a playlist.

That said Late Registration is one of the best skits concept for an album in the 2000s. Top 2 possibly

Used to skip skits when I was young but I def have a newfound appreciation for em. When I think back to some of my favorite albums like Liquid Swords the skits played a more pivotal role than I gave them credit for. Actually bought Shogun Assassin bc I loved the movie samples on Wu Tang albums. I like how it can explain the theme of the album when the project isn’t being presented as a conceptual work

I find myself enjoying the funny skits now too. Heard Blame Game recently and Chris Rock had me dying I can’t lie lol a lot of rappers maintain a certain level of bravado and machismo. Some of the subject matter they explore can heavy and dark so I can appreciate some humor on a rap album
